As a Senior Lawyer you will play a crucial role in advising business stakeholders and engaging with key regulators on investigations, reviews, inquiries and litigation on high-risk regulatory matters.
This role involves managing complex regulatory investigations, inquiries, and litigation led by bodies such as the ACCC, ASIC, and APRA. It includes proactively reviewing high-risk areas to assess exposure from industry and regulatory developments. You will partner closely with legal and regulatory teams to advise business stakeholders on regulatory risks and emerging issues. Responsibilities also include managing external legal counsel, ensuring compliance with mandatory training, and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, business leaders, and legal colleagues to uphold governance and accountability. The role requires identifying and monitoring legal risks related to disputes and litigation, escalating issues as needed, and contributing to a culture of proactive risk management and regulatory awareness.
- 10+ years PQE
- Financial Services Experience
- Experience in large scale regulatory investigations and advisory work in a law firm or major bank.
- Experienced litigation lawyer (experience in large scale regulatory inquiries/investigations or internal investigations required)
- Solutions focused and good problem-solving skills
- Excellent professional and commercial judgement and decision-making
- Ability to work with limited supervision (including judgement regarding how and when to escalate issues)
