Working alongside our NATA-accredited laboratory, our Hazardous Materials team provides asbestos, mould and hazardous materials management, assessment and advisory services to an established client base across the construction, facilities management, transport, insurance and government sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a full-time Senior Hazardous Materials Consultant to join our Brisbane-based team.
Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on site across Southeast Queensland, undertaking hazardous materials and occupational hygiene work. The remaining 40% will be office-based and focused on technical reporting, project management, proposals, quality assurance and supporting the development of other consultants. Occasional travel to regional locations and interstate may also be required.
What you will be doing
- Conduct asbestos, mould and hazardous materials surveys across industrial, commercial and residential properties.
- Undertake clearance inspections and airborne asbestos fibre monitoring associated with asbestos removal work.
- Complete contamination and post-remediation verification assessments for asbestos, mould, moisture and other contaminants.
- Conduct occupational hygiene surveys and monitoring
- Manage projects, including developing scopes of work, preparing fee proposals, coordinating resources and ensuring project objectives and deadlines are achieved.
- Produce clear, accurate hazardous materials and occupational hygiene reports.
- Undertake technical review and quality assurance of reports prepared by other consultants.
- Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring to less experienced consultants.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide practical technical advice.
- Perform laboratory analysis, including fibre counting for airborne asbestos, where required.
- Conduct respirator face fit testing when required.
- Ensure client deliverables are completed accurately and within agreed timeframes.

Experience and qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in hazardous materials consulting, occupational hygiene or a closely related field.
- A current LAA licence is essential.
- A current Australian driver’s licence is essential.
- Science, environmental or hazardous materials qualifications, including relevant P-Certs, are desirable.
- Professional membership with AIOH, FAMANZ or a similar industry body will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing technical reports.
- Experience managing projects, developing scopes and preparing fee proposals will be highly regarded.
