Sydney Secondary College is a diverse and inclusive multi-campus setting in the inner west, comprising of two Year 7 - 10 campuses (Leichhardt and Balmain) and one Year 11 - 12 campus (Blackwattle Bay). Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus has a current enrolment of 801 students. The College enrolment is over 2400 students with 87 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 38% having a Language Background other than English. The Support Teacher Transition (STT) position is a specialist role that assists secondary students in regular and special school settings, their parents and carers, educational services and school personnel with the transition process. The role facilitates transition from school to post school destinations and requires close collaboration between students, families, schools, educational services teams and a wide range of community based education, training and specialist service providers. Developing strong professional relationships with School Leaver Employment Programs (SLES), Local Area Coordinators, disability employment services and NDIS providers is essential to the role.

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching Transition (Itinerant)

Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, exercise sound professional judgement, and prioritise competing priorities,

Capacity to work with families and expertise in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs supporting students transitioning post school,

Ability and willingness to travel across Principal Networks, including a current Driver’s Licence or demonstrated capacity to meet the travel requirements of this role.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
