Coffee Roaster – The Roasting Club
The Roasting Club (TRC) is looking for an experienced Coffee Roaster who wants to be part of something bigger than just roasting coffee.

About the Role
This is a hands-on roasting and production role based at The Roasting Club, where you'll be responsible for producing coffee to exacting quality standards while supporting the day-to-day operation of our commercial roasting facility.
You'll work closely with our production and coffee teams to ensure every roast meets specification, customer orders are produced on time, and our facility continues to operate safely and efficiently.
TRC works with a diverse range of coffees, blends and customers, so no two days are exactly the same. You'll be involved in roasting, quality assurance, production, green coffee management, warehouse operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Coffee Roasting & Quality
- Independently operate commercial coffee roasting equipment.
- Roast production batches consistently to approved specifications and profiles.
- Monitor roast data and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and consistency.
- Conduct regular cupping and quality control assessments.
- Identify roast defects, quality issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with roast profile development, blend development and coffee trials.
- Maintain accurate roasting and production records.
- Work with the production team to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of roasting and production equipment.
Production & Operations
- Support daily coffee production requirements across the facility.
- Assist with production planning and roasting schedules.
- Prepare roasted coffee for packing and dispatch.
- Assist with green coffee receiving, storage, stock rotation and inventory management.
- Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders when required.
- Safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment where appropriately licensed.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe roasting and production environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, consistency and workflow.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Help maintain TRC's coffee quality standards across all production.
- Participate in regular cupping and sensory evaluation.
- Record and communicate quality issues and corrective actions.
- Contribute ideas to improve roasting processes, systems and production efficiency.
- Support new coffee, blend and product development.
- Take ownership of quality from green coffee through to the finished product.
About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the craft and technical side of coffee roasting.
You understand that great roasting isn't simply following a profile — it's understanding the coffee, the equipment and the variables that influence the final cup.
You're organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for your work while contributing to a collaborative production environment.
Essential
- Available Monday to Friday 8am-5pm
- Previous commercial coffee roasting experience.
- Strong understanding of roast profiling and coffee quality.
- Experience operating commercial coffee roasting equipment.
- Understanding of green coffee and how origin, processing and density can influence roasting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage roasting priorities.
- Basic computer skills and confidence working with production and inventory systems.
- Physically capable of production, warehouse and manual-handling duties.
- Current Australian working rights.
Highly Regarded
- Specialty coffee or commercial coffee manufacturing experience.
- Experience with high-volume production roasting.
- Experience developing or modifying roast profiles.
- Strong cupping and sensory evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of green coffee handling, storage and inventory management.
- Experience maintaining or troubleshooting coffee roasting equipment.
- Forklift Licence.
- First Aid or WHS qualifications.
