About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, hands-on Service Technician to take the next step into a leading-hand style role within our WA Healthcare Service team. This is not an office-based management position; the successful applicant will remain actively on the tools, working in the field to diagnose faults, repair equipment, respond to customer issues, and help keep critical medical machinery operating safely and effectively. The role will also support and guide a small WA service team, leading by example and helping develop capability across the team. A key focus of the role is delivering customer service excellence and driving service effectiveness. Your working week will vary but will ordinarily be an 80/20 split between hands-on field work and team leadership and development.
Your responsibilities:
Lead the WA service team from the front by remaining actively involved in field service work, customer callouts, fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance.
Respond quickly and effectively to customer issues, using strong technical capability to assess equipment problems, identify practical solutions and restore machinery to service.
Support the day-to-day coordination of a small regional service team in collaboration with, and with support from, the wider service leadership team.
Set a proactive, hands-on example to ensure service work is completed right the first time, delivered on time, and aligned with customer expectations.
Be a safety champion by leading safe work practices in the field for your team and the wider organisation.
Provide practical direction, technical expertise and on-the-job support to cross-functional technicians.
Assist in developing service protocols and help continuously improve processes and procedures based on field experience and customer needs.
Support and represent the organisation in customer escalations and at site or manufacturer meetings when required.
By nature, you will ideally possess:
Strong hands-on technical skills and practical fault-finding experience, preferably gained in a healthcare environment; however, suitably skilled technicians from mechanical, electrical, electronic or industrial equipment backgrounds may also adapt and develop the necessary skills.
A willingness to remain field-based and actively involved in servicing, repairing and supporting equipment while also helping guide a small team.
Sound knowledge of, and commitment to, safe working procedures.
A high level of communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support customers confidently and professionally during service issues.
Practical leadership capability, with the ability to lead by example, coach others on the job, and help the team deliver effective service outcomes.
Technically speaking you will preferably have:
Equivalent experience, such as knowledge of medical equipment or backgrounds in mechanics, electronics, electrical motors, or industrial washers/washing machines.
Experience servicing equipment in a medical setting will be highly regarded.
Hold a valid driver’s license.
Possess, at a minimum, a current Restricted Electrical License.
