Fine casual position, but you start to hate it when they make you work harder with less staff for less hours. You have to be lucky with the managers - some are very nice, supportive and on your side, while some are on upper management’s side and do not care about you. Super fast paced and busy, and a lot of rude customers. But it builds character and empathy. You also learn a lot about store merchandising.

I worked for a Valleygirl Mega and it was terrible from the get go. Would be forced to stay back after close sometimes an hour unpaid to get the store in shape, and if you refused to then you would be told you aren’t a committed employee and would lose shifts. No staff discounts or benefits of any kind, not even required to where Valleygirl/Temt clothing which is stupid. Was told not to ask customers how their day was and was never taught or told how to upsell yet got in trouble when I didn’t push customers to buy more. Overall worst two months of my life. I quit via text because I couldn’t face them one more day.

Working seven hours without breaks, if you take a day off you get one shift a week that’s a measly three hours. Upper management do not support their staff and could not care less about you unless you’re a manager. They do not have the funds to put enough staff on busy days so there is always far too much work to do for whatever unlucky casual is rostered on for that day. There is no support from management when dealing with rude customers, they will simply tell you to work on your customer service. Only pro of this job is that you meet cool people who are also trapped there until they find a new job.

While working for the company was enjoyable at first, the management team is terrible. They don't train staff well, we as staff aren't looked after, we are told to work overtime and unpaid because "they don't have enough money to pay us" but still expect a clean and looked after store, but only putting 2 of us on. They expect to much to be done with limited staff. The gossiping between the girls is ridiculous. The managers don't deal with bullying and bully staff themselves. Its like working in a high school, but we don't get paid enough for that.

Working here as a casual for 4 years while I study at uni has been super convenient but utterly frustrating. 
Management have no idea how ridiculous all their rules are which make it super difficult for frontline staff to perform day to day duties with ease 
Ovviously a company that doesn't like to spend money to fix things when required 
Options to advance within company come with strings attached 
Only full time employees get ANY discount in store 

Only positive is a good work life balance & easy to do job

The worst place to work at and also not a good atmosphere. It's an toxic environment to work with the manager and owner and team mates. It's sad the environment is not a happy place to get experience. The owner doesn't know how to run a business, always complaining and putting her employees down and belittling them. You'll end staying back to clean and everything. Please be aware to apply for this job it's not a good environment especially for your mental health. 

My experience wasn’t the greatest at Valleygirl. Working in a retail clothes shop you do get your typical girls working in there. The girls who think they are the fashion gurus, In a word it was like highschool again, with girls and there cliques. Management was shocking, our manager likes everyone to call her “mum”.. some other issues going on there? And if you didn’t well, your shifts were cut short.

working at valleygirl is not for everyone ..its face paced and quite stressfull. Be prepared to not get your full lunch breaks and stay back an hr to a hr n half unpaied overtime neally everyshift. Then get called lazy by your store manager  the next day .. high turn over rate .. its not the glamours job you think it is .. see for yourself..this is my experience hopefully you will have a better one :)

Working at valleygirl was easy but very repetitive. Coworkers were lovely, although you are almost always working alone so barely had the chance to get to know them. A good job for students who only want a couple shifts a week because it is very unlikely you will get more than 10 hours a week. Regional manager is the most unpleasant girl I have ever come across 

Valleygirl is a great environent to work in, the staff are great to work with and the customers always seem to leave happy.
