Been working with this company for awhile, they offer me a part time position with guaranteed hours per week, but after the first week I hardly get any shift. Too many head chefs that give different instructions and most of them will make you down, left you feeling stupid. No proper training but they would expect the new employees to be like them. Don’t expect you will treated well if you don’t meet their expectations. I have received and seen so many disrespectful and harsh behaviour while working there, just because I was  still learning and still not as good as them. The team work also very poor, very lack of communication and support. Now I have to remain jobless because they have terminated my contract which is less than a month just because I am not perfect enough for them. No feedback, no review or communication before dismissal.

The management system is a mess with most admin jobs being too underpaid to actually keep employees and maintain organised rostering. Have way too high of expectations for kitchen hands to meet, worked 250 people events with no working dishwasher and mostly worked alone. Some kitchen hands I know work almost everyday without proper breaks, long double shifts and clear exploitation of these young teens and international workers who don’t know their workers rights. Worked past my contract due to pity of other kitchen hands struggling, never again. 

Hours can fluctuate throughout the year as it gets busy during Spring Summer but really  quiet during winter. Good working environment and culture, but no guarantee of consistent working hours due to large team. Pay is good. Get free meal at midday if in Production kitchen, or whatever is leftover from service if at a event.  Overall, good place to work at if just starting out in your career as a chef. 

They treat their staff horrifically. They don't believe in breaks and take advantage of legal loop holes. What they expect of their employees far exceeds the pay they offer. They give broken equipment then get angry when things inevitably go wrong. Not to mention they deliberately under roster and then expect their staff to stay back for other events. If you need the work look somewhere else!!! 

The job was very stressful especially during events, because they are always understaffed due to poor rostering. There are times I only got a 15 minute break during a 9+ hour shifts, constantly being asked to stay later than your rostered on for, sometimes leaving at 1am when your shift started at 2pm. Management also doesn't care much as they act like they do

Most of the people are friendly but some chefs are really rude and impolite specifically on busy days.
The company is ok but due to up and downs of the hospo industry the unstable shifts are a constant

Food&Desire is an event company where team spirit is great. They do different event and employees have different work experiences every day which helps to learn different areas in food & beverage operation.

It is a very busy job, you have a 30 minutes break in a shift of 8-10 hours. However, it is very rewarding and I learned everything I know from this job. The environment is also very friendly and the managers are very kind.

Face paced job at the kitchen, digital clock in-out controls, nice people to work with but the stress load is high during events and most of the time the work is against the clock. The payment was received always on time.
