I’ve worked at youi for the past 3 years, I did 2 years in retention and the last year in CTP.

It was fun to start out I enjoyed the 4 weeks training, I noticed a lot of micromanagement across the business, for starters it’s a call centre so you are answering phones calls all day, you get one 10 minute break in the morning a 30 minute lunch break and 10 minute break in the afternoon, these breaks are timed as managers can see how long you are out of the call Que for which is fine if your manger isn’t micromanaging you, however most do. It’s all KPI driven, in retention it was based on “ save ratio “ how many policy’s you saved in a day, customer survey response, quality score ( you get your calls listened to and audited )
For CTP which is essentially sales , it’s based on number of sales , customer surveys, and quality score. The base pay is average if you’re doing good on all measures you get bonuses. They advertise their jobs to be up to 74K however that’s including super and bonuses which you aren’t guaranteed to make and most often don’t. 

Its a call centre phone calls every minute.

There are good things about the company of course they have a great office ( it is full time in office no work from home anymore) they often have free food and fun monthly incentives. 

They work isn’t that difficult however after a while you get sick of talking to customers, customers are customer they are mostly rude and kick and scream till they get what they want. If you enjoy customer service it’s most likely enjoyable for you. 


I’m not writing this to be a Debby downer I’m just being honest as I felt like when I first started it was made out to be very very different than it was. 

It can be a good starting point in someone’s career .

What is the best part of working at the company?
Company facilities amazing and the training extensive which was promising… as soon as the training finished we were micromanaged, performance recorded by the second for an insurance advisor role that pay incentives were questionable. They had great, professional people that they had trained but anyone with any life experience will realise quickly that it is 20 years behind in management skills.  How they run level 2. Inappropriate behaviour from managers clearly been living under a rock and have no idea of the me 2 movement. Lots of  inappropriateness wouldn’t want my young daughter working there. Couldn’t wait to leave.  Don’t be wooed by the bells and whistles of food trucks and prizes it’s a disgrace.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The inappropriate Conduct, the way we were micromanaged and performance managed. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s like a men’s locker room in the sales team. Felt like we were living in the 1980’s 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hours good as soon as you start work you are micromanaged

During my 5 years I have had just about as many roles and teams. Fellow workers are super friendly and passionate but the leadership is inexperienced, unapproachable and completely directionless. 
Technology stances have varied from strict .Net, Xamarin and Azure through Javascript via Angular 1 - 6, passing by Python and, at last glance some form of VueJS with a promise of AWS. I have been told my team is being broken-up and a few days later told they're staying as-is and then a week or so later the team was dissolved. You will almost certainly end-up doing something other than what you were hired for and your career path is very unclear. No training is provided to IT staff; you have to sort that out yourself. The latter being more taxing as you simply can't tell what skills will be needed next.

What I have seen over the last 2 years is a lot of bad eggs being moved out of the company (including the ex CEO!), but also sadly some of the management too who actually tried to stand up to the corrupt money grabbing culture. It seemed to me the only people left in management are the dodgy ones (a few good ones for sure). HR do everything they can to bury things and the company lives behind fake values and an almost cult like money belief system. Just look at the issues they had in NZ and look at who is now running the sales and customer facing departments... the same people!
I left after flirting with the idea of management but seeing how haggard and stressed the Internet Managers were and the way they were treated I decided to leave and pursue my career elsewhere.
Fun parts were competitions and stuff, also lots of free food - but it is all like selling your soul to the devil.

Amazing that a business like this allows people with no experience, qualifications, emotional intelligence, or common sense to hold a management position and run a so called investigation team.
Constantly put down at every point, bullied, singled out, and made to feel worthless.
The department I was part of was once full of experience but is now full of people from around the business who have no qualifications or experience as investigators. 
If you are happy to plug into the Matrix and leave your thoughts, ideas, experience, and a genuine desire to help people and the business at home and be dumbed down to the managers level, then this is the place for you. But, if you feel the need to voice an opinion or idea stand by to be burnt alive.

Proactive company.
I very much enjoyed the sales environment; always pushing to achieve higher targets. 
Most enjoyable part of my job was working as efficiently as possible to earn as much money as I could.

Hardest part of the job; not letting tough days get to you, to be able to 'reset' and increase your stats/sales and get your no.s back up the following day. 

I learned alot about sales; buying signals, how to overcome objections, selling on emotion, uncovering a customer's 'real need', selling on value (not just price)

Management; majority of the management staff are brilliant, very happy to help, answer any questions or be willing to listen to my thoughts on how to tackle/approach an obstacle

I've worked at Youi, for 2 years, it's has been a amazing journey, with some truly wonderful people, I've always felt supported and encouraged and have always had the training to excel in any department available to me, the 4 weeks training was excellent and all the HR team are such a joy to converse with and help you along, there was alot to learn at first but after a period it all beds in and things flow more easily, my journey with Youi has been a good one and it's change me in a positive way... 

Great company overall, management and support is amazing, I’m in sales so can only speak from experience in sales, but if you are passionate about it then you will go far, I’m just not a massive sales person so I find it can Ben very demanding and stressful at times and overwhelming. Great support to back to up but again I believe sales just isn’t for me personally

Direct management and claims staff are great to work with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Complex claims that assessor may be asked to deal with. External contractors not having the same ethics to get things finalised

Culture was probably the best I’ve been involved in, great people and attitude within the organisation

Hectic, always have some to do, doesn’t stop as insurance is always busy.

They really do care about their staff/family

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
same stress as any other job.  Dealing with the general public and their problems

Like a family.  They do care about their staff and reward them in turn.

Answering calls from customers.  Amending policies and selling them also.
