Safety Administration
•	Process incident reports.

Coordinator Rehabilitation
•	Manage rehabilitation cases.
•	Liaise with Health Professionals in regards to rehab cases.
Site Delivery/Performance
•	In conjunction with other Safety Coordinator, effectively roster training for ERT personnel.
•	Participate in ERT training.
•	Report on ERT progress to Superintendent.
•	Other tasks as required.
•	Attend Pre Shift briefings on a regular basis.
•	Assist in preparation for audits.
•	Assist the Superintendent, SSE in adherence to legislative requirements and when required i.e. participate in Risk Assessment, Incident Investigations, Development of Standards, Procedures and Policies.
•	Actions assigned to be closed out in a timely manner.
•	Conduct audit as required to identify deficiencies.
•	Carry out Planned Task Observations.
•	Carry out Investigations (ICAM).•	Monitor Overdue Action by Department and communicate with the relevant departments.

Effective Communication

Varying rosters from 4/4, 4/3, 5/2 and/or a combination of the three, depending on the department or site procedures. Predominantly 12hr days unless working 5/2 but all rosters are based on 48 - 50hr weeks. Career advancement and training available for dedicated workers. Harsh environment for trade or manual labour work with temperatures ranging from 6 degrees Celsius on winter nights to 50+ on summer days. Isolated region with ridiculously high prices for flights or a 10hr drive to the nearest large city (Townsville). Due to the harsh environmental conditions there is a strong bond between co-workers, especially those that have been there for a lengthy duration. Management in most cases is easy to get along with and respect hard workers. The Human Resources Department is excellent and always willing to listen. The most enjoyable part of the job is the knowledge that you can work in a demanding environment and still give 100% ,which shows in your pay package.

*Check emails and see what needed to be actioned from our international offices. 
*Check-in with the GM to see if there was anything specific that he needed me to work on, ie travel arrangements, diary management, payment of invoices etc
*Monthly I would run reports to see if there was any discrepancies in environmental or health & safety data. I would graph the information for the board members. 
*Send out communications on the new reporting system that we were implementing to all international leads
*Answer telephone queries

I learnt about the new reporting system XSD2 & SharePoint and how to read and interpret health & safety data.

Management was laid back and it was up to you to deliver work to set deadlines.

Hardest part of the job was learning all environmental factors that had an impact on overall performance.

I was in charge of a small team of Site Security personnel at a mine site.

This was a newly established gate house on a mine site in Central Queensland.

The role required engaging with Safety Managers and Stakeholders onsite in order to implement new gate house policies and procedures.

The day consisted of reporting directly to the Site Safety & Security Managers, participation on Safety Committees, creation of rosters and oversight of Safety Inspections on the mine site to identify hazards and implement controls to manage risks.

Coworkers consisted of a variety of experienced and new to task personnel.  This allowed me to train a small team to create a cohesive and effective security detail for the first time on the mine.

A typical day would start with a pass meeting were isues from the past shift would be descusted as well as issues that may arise from the day aheads jobs.
What i have learnt from this job how to work fast and safely during the periods of AQC (Air quality control) were the plant is stopped and a window of opertunity for larger maintenance jobs can be carried out.
Managment are aprochable and there are good lines of communication between Maintenance and Managment.
The Maintenance crew work well together to achive a common goal.
The most difficult part of the job is communications as the use of respirators make it difficult to be understood along with the back ground noise of the plant.
However this can be overcome by using the cool air rooms or discussion in the workshop prio to heading of to the job.
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with a good crew who have a professional aditude.

Observing and Reporting defects and faults in the circuitry of the concentrator. Later conducting maintenance work alongside trades persons assuring correct shut down and isolation of the department required.
Full understanding of how the process of concentration of Lead & Zinc occurs.
Management ensure full on the job training to deem us competent Process Technicians.
Some Co-workers have become very close friends of mine. Varying in experience and qualification.
The Summer days in 48+ degree temperatures was the most difficult to endure. After acclimatisation this became second nature to a lovely day at work.
Completing a successful shut down and start up of the plant after over 100 contractors are repairing my department.

Typical day at work was heading underground mapping in the morning. Then hazard plans, permits to mines, borehole scheduling, interpreting and updating structure drawings.

I learned many different software skills, managing and mentoring graduates and vac students.

We had a great team and worked closely with the mine plan engineer, production to achieve results.

Hardest part of the job was transport in and out of the pit.

Working in a team and achieving great results and saving the company money.

Stable company to work for. Not a lot of in put in terms of training, pretty much learn as you go. Management team pretty good to work with, some better than others, some had their own agenda and could not work in a team environment.
 
Hardest part of the job was to keep everyone in the work force positive and pro active. Most enjoyable part of the job was getting through day to day, week to week, month to month achieving targets and most importantly without incident or injury to work force

Keeping constant stock records and responsibility of explosives that come into the magazine and go out, Ordering of stock and house keeping of the magazine.

Co-workers would let me know in advance what they would need and I would gather it and set it up for collection, the hardest part of the job is when deliveries are made and the ring firers need bomb while loading up.

My most enjoyable part is communication with others and having to organise the bombing items that need to go out. I enjoy all parts of the job

Challanging always keep you on your toes, always learning new experiences from the company and also from new and old employies. The managment do there best to keep people happy and intrested in the company. Sometimes the moral about been in a isloated place is not to everyones liking but at the end of the day it's good money, the ability to see your family more often is always a bonus.
