The only positive I can find about working for this company is the coworkers who are all absolutely amazing and a blast to work with. Unfortunately, everything else is terrible. The management are very unreasonable, they make stupid policies for CASUALS about never being able to swap shifts and never being able to discuss pay rates. All staff members are significantly underpaid - definitely not following the hospitality award. Staff members don't even receive the tips given to them by customers at the end of the day - the tips go to the owner. The job is very demanding and very exhausting so the workers are definitely not rewarded for their hard work.

As always, the first couple weeks were great, welcoming and unruly, until each week it devolved into only one and two shifts a week, three if you were lucky and pay rate of $13-$14 an hour for running around and cleaning and bussing tables. Owner kept pushing it off, and even was still hiring. The cleaning is still somehow so abhorrent even with all the effort because it’s never maintained. Staff formed their own cliques and made you feel like you were back in high school. Kitchen staff were the most fun to speak to. Owners made me feel as though I was halfway to scum beneath their feet. 


Started working here early this year, While my job here isn’t too hard, it is very physically draining and mentally draining, working until midnight and having to leave home at 06:00 the next day. Pay is horrible compared to my friends, and penalty rates horrible as well, and well below industry average. Management also takes all tips and do not give them to staff, they also round down my hours worked to pay me less from what little they do. 

They also have poor payslip management by not describing my position, work type(Casual, Part time etc.) and not describing penalty rates which apply.

Good first job, do not stay long term.

Recommend should not work here, as the employer will try to bleed you to dry. You need to do everything with a very low rate payment. Never encourages staff, only prettily criticize them on little things, why why and why. Payslips will be the mysterious, will never been sent. Also don’t surprise if your payment will be rounded down from $599 to $590, it will always happen, if you intend to work here.
The only good thing, if you wanna work here, it will help you learn how to bring stress to your life, and stuck with it.

Pay is horrible for the amount of work your expected. Staff training is horrible so all the staff have no idea what they are doing. All managers have very very thick accents and very hard to understand what they are saying. Management is horrible, everyone is very rude and uptight. So competitive for no reason, very unorganised and no one works together or communicates. Lots of yelling from managers, customers are always unhappy. 

The job is quite fun because you get to make/decorate cool shakes and deserts and make customers happy which is quite rewarding. If you didn't do a lot of food tech in High school adapting to the speed may be hard but not  impossible or very effort consuming. Very nice colleagues and very nice managers/supervisors. hardest part for me was finding everything and knowing how to do things but it only takes around 5 shifts max to acclimate yourself.

There's as reason this place is always hiring and turns over staff so quick. Bad management, bad team work as everyone's in and out that quick, work until midnight for a poor wage then come in at 7am the next day. All Newcastle locations are run by the same guy as well, expected to travel to different suburbs to work in different shops. Nothing enjoyable about working here. The cherry on top is the owner and manager both creeps to women as well.

At first, supervisor and kitchen got the key. There are times that we have to wait for kitchen till 8am to open the shop wherein the shop’s opening is 6am.

There are times that the the shop is understaff. The barista is alone till 8am taking orders, making coffee, making take away drinks and desserts and doing uber eats. How stressful is that?

We don’t get pay enough. And they would tell you you’d get pay with tax but they don’t. 

There is no compassion at this cafe. Although the people appear nice and friendly, once you get to know them it gets worse. 

They underpay terribly and they don’t offer penalty rates on public holidays or weekends as it states in FairWork Australia. These people need to get their act together and pay people why they deserve. 

Management think they’re top of the world and don’t care about staff that much. Not sure if it’s changed but dodgy management from when i worked there. Pick and choose favourites. You’re told the hours you’re going to be given and contracted but you will definitely not get that. Feels like a highschool environment, people talking behind your back big time and one thing to add they’re dodgy with paying people. Most staff are kind but not worth applying for.
