Extremely disappointed after almost 3 years with Worley

I've been working at Worley for nearly three years. During this time, I consistently received positive feedback from all my managers and from every company I was assigned to. I built strong relationships, contributed real value to the teams I joined, and never had a single complaint or made unreasonable requests.

However, at a crucial point in my life, I asked the company for a small favor related to my visa—a simple, low-cost process that would have made a big difference for me personally. After making me go through countless excuses, which turned out to be nothing but lies, they ultimately said they just didn't want to help.

This lack of support forced me to waste valuable time and completely reshuffle my personal life plans. It's incredibly disappointing to see such a lack of basic human decency and gratitude from a company I gave so much to. I expected at least a minimum level of empathy and support after years of commitment and good performance. Sadly, I was wrong.

Unprofessional, ungrateful, and shockingly inhumane.

Review emails recieved overnight and prioritise any work .
Check with project manager the prioritised list from previous day and readjust the priorirty list.
My co-workers are all in the same field, so there is always plenty of peer support on past experiences, so the project requirements and conclusions are always based on sound engineering and financial fundamentials.
management are supportive of fresh approach to projects, provided sound reasoning is behind the changes and suportive of the final conclusions for a proposal of close out or project completions.
The hardest part is losing a tender where the team has put heart and soul in to wind, by a very small margin.
The enjoyable part is being on site and seeing the projected completed to the design and final rail certification.
I have leaned that consultancy has as many challenges, especially in approvals and interfacing, where I felt I made a difference .

Day to day work is exciting  working among highly professional Engineers with ideas and technology in designs and management of projects at minimum cost possible to the client. Working on designs for projects that will be safe and cost effective for clients in the long run. Working as a team putting together all the necessary components to complete the project in the time frame and without loss times injuries, That is one of the hardest  part in making sure that the safety culture is always part of the job. Management of all these activities is important as the client always wants to know where all the money is being spent from the beginning of the project to the final handover. So when the project is constructed and completed to the final handover without any loss time injury, that always gives the most satisfaction and makes it worthwhile in enjoying what I do.

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer for this project I was responsible for the composing and researching the project data for the relevant information to be included in the companies Standard Operating Procedures for the Upstream Coal Seam Gas Project.
It was also part of my responsibilities to report any design faults that I encountered during my research for information.

My management was the best leadership that I have enjoyed in my entire career. We all felt supported and part of the team. I was also recognized for  my broader experience skill base as a Machinery Engineer.

The most enjoyable part of my work to receive reviews back on my work with little or now comments.

Typical day when busy well that was wonderful... Do a hard days work with your mates and then get the financial rewards and the beer-o-clock

When quiet well that's the problem, no time you'll be out the door.

Management - great people unfortunately the business model was a little off.

Co-workers become mates...

Hardest part was reporting information that is genuine and true (always) whilst still making the team look good. It can be an art sometimes choosing what to include and exclude. 
Also answering to a grumpy client of course, but this is part of the Contractors remit.

I think I love to do a good job - it is so satisfying. And of course beer-o-clock

A typical day would start out with a 10 minutes discussion with my Managers to discuss their day and where they needed to be with what documents.  Then change any meetings that needed changing, make new appointments etc.  Go through my emails and then my Manager's emails and answer or forward where appropriate.

Depending on the day of the week input time sheets, organise travel, update reports, format reports, create powerpoint presentations, attend meetings and take minutes then type up and distribute.

Liase with clients where necessary.

Working with the various contractors I had a day to day interaction to solve complex CRAWS and high risk activities. Communication between safety and management improved as the project developed due to greater involvement with them as in coaching,mentoring ability to coordinate activities. Communication with all workers improved as I attended daily pre starts and tool boxes, but interacted in the field daily with the contractors thus breaking down the client v/s contractor stigma.

I joined WorleyParsons when they won the Engineering support Contract at the Whyalla Steelworks in 2009. Previously I had worked for Hatch Engineering in a similar role.
I moved to Adelaide for personal reasons and took on the Job of Site Superintendant at the ExxonMobil Adelaide Oil Refinery Demolition Project.
I worked directly on behalf of the Client - ExxonMobil overseeing the preparation then subsequent Demolition of the Refinery.

I really enjoy be part of this company and I like the work environment specially when I work globally and experience different work cultures. good colleagues and so corporative.
problem solving and find the best way to handle the project is one of my favourites which I do it every day.
I have learnt many thing here and most of the skills that I have now was under job training which is valuable for me.
I try to finish my job on time and on budget, but when someone do the wrong estimate for my job, it is too hard to do it on time.

Learnt a lot about financial budgeting, work in progress, database administration and working with various projects. Management was ok until company (KV3 Engineers) was bought by WorleyParsons. Now management cannot be trusted. Get along very well with co-workers. Very enjoyable job. Hardest part at moment is dealing with retrenchment of old KV3 employees. The financial part - budgeting, fee account rendering, independent work.
