I started in August on my return to Australia & left on the 15th of December to return to Japan to be with my family for Xmas.
I can return to Australia with a little notice if a job opportunity were to arise.
The hours were long (12 hours a day six days a week )which I liked as I was here to work to support my family.
At first there were management problems which were affecting the project but there were changes made & it was much more enjoyable to work there.
There was a high turn over of workers in the beginning but that settled down with the change of Management & it became an enjoyable place to work & productivity improved & the company rewarded us with positive feed back & free BBQ lunches.
The project was a major road reconstruction job in Mackay & I my duties included driving a small tipper to grade checking,traffic control,pipe laying & concrete works,using small plant (i.e Jack Hammer & Wacker Packer).

While joining they mentioned in contract that you will get full time after 6 months or probation depend on your performance  never gave them chance to complain about my work but when time came I asked for full time I got told some who came way after me will get full time first as they were good at pleasing the Forman when I asked why I got told stay casual or I can go home and don’t bother coming back worked their for a year but always given excuses in the name of full time and got laid off by saying company cutting workers down as they just end up hiring number of new worker a week ago as they kept the new ones who just started instead a worker who was working from a year doing the job independently I don’t know how that is a wise decision for any company to let go their experienced worker over the one need to be trained 

Nothing good to say about this company.  Over a year there and can't think of one good thing to say. Poor workmanship. They take no prose in their work what so ever. Mix that with the worst workplace culture and nasty foreman and management makes for the most toxic workplace I've ever been in. Also forget progressing within the company. It won't happen. They lead you on and keep giving you glimmers of hope for as long as they can until you get fed up and leave.. it is not I'm their intentions to give you what you want unless you are a part of the inner circle.

I had the biggest rock breaker so I spent a lot of time walking the machine around site and helping eliminate obstacles.
This site only had one rock, it started at the gate.
My site manager was good to work for, he could see that I knew what I was doing and let me get on with it.
My co workers were multi cultured and fascinating to listen to at breaks
The hardest part was getting to work in Melb traffic.
I started as a labourer and they soon realised that I should be on a digga.

Mentioned the unsafe site, no toilets, no site shed nothing but tools go into my car and i take home everyday and bring back everyday, was just a labourer running complete site all day with employment agency people looking for direction, when I mentioned about the safety and other issues the next time I was able to see the site foreman I was dismissed with no reason the next day by a different site superviser, busted my back for those guys and you get it in the back.. low pay also

I have learned and gained ideas working with this company even though I have work for a short time period, as on call basis only. It is an equal opportunity but I was happy enough working and earning with a good minimum hours work rate as a new worker. This industry is very challenging but productive organization which I have learned so much in a short term of period.

By far worst company I have operated scrapers for yet. Extremely abusive supervisor belittles you Infront of everybody. Verbal abuse from start of day until the end for weeks! Treated like a muppet & told by foreman of job it's over his head as the guys been there 10 years! Not a good experience. Highly disregard. Stressful environment!!

typical day at work was to do start up checks on all the machines and talk with your fellow workers to put in a job plan for the day.
learned how to follow plans, managemnt was very strict and didnt stand for stupidness but ofcourse it was because we are dealing with high complexed equpiment and could seriously hurt your of worst case kill you.

Great place to start a career in Subdivision

The most enjoyable part of the job is giving everything you got each day and time flys by so quick that you forget to have a lunch break 

Good working environment and was part of a team that helped create new housing estates in melbourne australia. As i had experience in Ireland beforehand was easy to fit in all management were easy to get along with and i gained a lot of new experience on site which i enjoyed as i like learning new things.
