I typically work an 8 hour day, 5 day week spent maintaining and installing electrical systems in a sugar mill. I have learnt to solve many difficult problems that occur on a daily basis and consider myself to have a good rapport with management. I do have some reservations in regard to the work place culture where I work and do my best to help improve it.I particularly enjoy the interaction I have with the variety of employees that we have.

Your day varries from very busy to very quiet. Every position is different from shift work to day work.
Management is not very good and there is a lack of communication between all levels of mangement and HR with the workers. Plans are constantly changing.
They don't always consider who is best for a positon and I feel they favor some people.

I started my shift as soon as i put my lunch in fridge, set up lab and commenced calibrations. I learnt to manage my time wisely, to find plant samples i needed for analyses when  process operators were busy. majority of my co-workers were great. management were fine, no issues. hardest part of the job was 3am on last night shift.
most enjoyable would've been the comradeship of our crew.

My supervisor had trust issues. I had to work remotely and often alone. Their perception was if I could not be seen I could be trusted. The supervisor felt they needed to micro-manage, which they could not do as I was operating far away.
Work methods I derived were always rejected in favour of the supervisors.

The role was well within my capabilities.

Rubbish place to work. Top heavy company. To many people doing meaningless jobs. Promote people that cause drama and problems.
Current boss only cares about the budget. No care for the people he works with.

Professional but approachable management.  Problems were quickly sorted out and any problems  were treated with care and compassion. Overall a very good place to work. I am sorry I could not return the next season for personal reasons.


Work/life balance with Wilmar was decent and salary okay while living expenses stayed low.  Job security and advancement were sadly mostly based on good luck and timing.  Job culture was reasonable but lazy workers were difficult to shed.

It is a real sad place to work, people leaving all the time management not caring no one is truthful in management about things. People getting rewarded for doing nothing, and the workers are getting used by them. I’m sorry but that’s how it is.
