Westpac is a company that truly values its customers and employees and its customer service is second to none.
In a typical day at work in my contact center i take calls from customers and help them with requests from every day banking needs like account balances and assisting with Bpays to educating customers about our products to make sure they get the most out of our banking. I also liaise with internal business partners to help organise personal loans, home loans, credit cards, business enquires/lending/finance, superannuation and insurance just to name a few.

Ive learned so much in my 3 short years at the contact center. Valuable skills that will help me not only at work, but in life. Everything from conflict resolution to how to manage my own finances and even qualifications in Business and Finance!

Our management really cares for our staff. Theres no difference in the way someone speaks to you from highest level management to our own team leaders. Theyre there to support you and help you develop a career plan and to assist you in reaching your goals.

Co-workers are more like family and friends. Its great to be able to catch up on our breaks while playing some pool or relaxing in the massage chairs or playing the wii. Flexible shifts allow us to have great work/life balance.

The hardest part of the job is that sometimes you can't always help a customer with their requests or they may have been misinformed previously by someone else. Its also tough when your heart breaks for a customer who's in a really tough situation, so I try to go out of my way and go the extra mile to help them source information to make the next steps a littler easier for them.

The greatest part of the job is when you really get to make a difference in someones life. They call to make a request they think is a long shot, and you get to be the one to say "Absolutely, we can help you with that, let's get that done for you right now!".
There are so many positives to this job - its peoples finances and you get to see dreams come true; an 18 year old gets their personal loan to buy their first car, or a young couple getting the finance for their first home! Hearing the stories of a customer increasing their credit card limit because theyre about to venture all over the world, or even helping customer process their claims after something like the QLD floods. Its a very rewarding experience to know youre making a difference every single day.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Westpac basically all my life. 
Started at Westpac in Suva Fiji in the year 1989, left Westpac in 1992, and emigrated to Australia .
Applied for bank jobs, and got accepted in Westpac Parramatta in 1993 .
I Did various roles , and have enjoyed each one of them (please refer to my  resume )
A typical day at work is meeting our customer targets efficiently avoiding customer complaints .
I have learnt that if you are dedicated , responsible , and eager to go an extra mile, your efforts are always rewarded , and this is the best part,  to be appreciated.
Our department is multi-cultural , and we have got along very well with each other , and have always worked as a team, and made sure
that our customers are satisfied at the end of day .
I don't recall any hardest part of the job , as our team was very helpful to one another, and we always manage to finish our day to day tasks, however there were times when due to large volume of work , we may have done overtime continuously and taken short lunches but we did not fret ,  as we were well appreciated by our team leaders and Manager.

The most challenging aspect can be tight deadlines, but they push us to stay focused and improve our time management skills. This helps us grow professionally and achieve great results.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

A typical day here is vibrant and engaging! I start with a productive team meeting, dive into exciting projects, and collaborate with talented colleagues. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities, making it both fulfilling and dynamic.

My typical day could involve doing any of the following:

* Overseeing the entire portfolio’s financials worth $1.2Billion
* Presenting financial results and management reports to CFOs and Program Directors, as well as presenting results at Steering committee meetings, Technology Finance meetings, Stakeholder Meetings, auditors
* Analysing and reporting weekly, monthly and annual financial impacts on Balance Sheets, P&L and operating expenditure as well as driving cost saving initiatives and advising mitigating actions on risks to financial forecasts
* Ensuring all invoices are paid on time
* Reviewing actual spend against budgets, rolling forecasts and providing detailed variances analysis.
* Preparing end-to-end Business Cases, Project Evaluation Models and Annual Research & Development Tax Concession Reports
* Management of capitalised costs, and depreciation and amortization of assets
* Ensuring the program has appropriate financial controls in place around expenditure
* Assessing project financials for year-end audits

Working with the Westpac General Counsel and BT Financial Group General Counsel enabled me to expand upon my legal skills and hone my ability to provide advanced legal advice to a variety of business and private clients. During my internship with Westpac General Counsel and BT Financial Group, I worked on a number of significant matters at a procedural and technical level. I assisted counsel and partners in the drafting of advices, submissions and agreements to various organisations and business clients. This included judicial, government and regulatory authorities, such as ASIC, APRA and the ACCC. I was responsible for the assessment of insurance claims and preparation of marketing materials for financial products. Through this experience I gained detailed insight into various matters and complex transactions within the legal and financial services industry. This included determining technical issues involved in facing various internal and external clients, and developing networks to resolve legal dilemmas.

Typical day at work would be making calls out to customers in regards to their home loans or insurances and booking in an appointment to see myself in branch to take out insurance or a home loan or other financial products. 

I learned to sell financial products in accordance to the laws set by the governing body in Australia. The system needed to set up home loans and insurance. The financial products and the benefit and features they have.

Management were great as the company promoted you based on effort and merit so your managers were there based on effort. The colleagues were great and made the job very enjoyable. 

The hardest part of the job was achieving sales targets and that was measured on how many customers took out home loans or policies. Although i did excel in this area it is definitely the hardest part.

The most enjoyable was getting on the phones and building rapport with prospective customers and starting them on their journey of saving money or protecting their financing. Helping people and saving money for customers is my reason why I love the job.

There are some good people at westpac. Finding them is a challenge

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working for poor managers who have been sidelined due to their own poor performance and experience all the joys of their incompetence 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very bureaucratic, very ego-driven with a complete dogs breakfast of legacy technology mixed with leading edge technology. Run the bank cost reductions ensures the environment is always running on a wish and a prayer. A near total absence of modern reporting tools on outdated infrastructure widespread. The fact there hasn’t been a significant disaster or outage is a miracle

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends on your manager. You could be lucky and make a difference, or you could be unlucky and have your manager take all the credit for what you do and throw you under the bus when you become too much of a threat.

Day at work.
Get in, set up my workstation, get  orders ready for my customers and get branch cash clearance ready for dispatch.
I learned that customer service is all about customer experience. How to deal with difficult customers and turn them around to positive. Build rapport with customers. 
I have always had great managers, learnt different skills from each one. 
Every branch I have been to there has been a diversity in cultures which is great. We tried to make it fun by doing different activities and include our customers to join in the fun, while at same time looking out for their needs.
The hardest part of the job was when the transition to the new bank happened, because we were loosing staff and customers were not happy anymore because of the waiting time and having to do things electronically.
What I enjoyed the most was helping customers, always going a step further to help them and achieve my goals. Turning customers around from negative to positive and seeing great results, it was the best feeling.

Great opportunities to upskill and work with various teams and departments be part of a multicultural team .

N/ a sorry I enjoyed my workplace and could correspond with my team leaders if stressed 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was great in lots of inputs and opportunities to upskill and evolve .As it's said if you don't take advantage of opportunities someone else will 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depended on my work schedule and departments but initially catching up with teams ,discussing where wer were and what we could do ,corresponding with customers ,follow ups and completing other tasks like parallel projects ,teams  communication.
In projects it was follow up new timelines ,any training on new products implementation team correspondence and sales training etc

Work usually between 10-12 hours per day minimum. 
Together with our management team of 8 and together with support staff of approx 20. 
We created a workplace that was enjoyable to work, incorporating high pressure deadlines, encompassing difficult home pressures for all concerned. The management team created a workplace culture that all new and existing staff were made aware that this was not an easy project and support of all staff was of our highest priority.
As management we were well aware of our responsibilities  and due diligence, as a team completed our roles to the highest standard.
However our proudest and the most enjoyable part of these projects, was the individual growth and development of our staff, some of who moved on to Senior Management roles.
They were demanding times, however they were also good.
