High pressure position I was in with more work than what we could handle due to aggressive sales approach of the business which meant over committing our resources. 
The team or Planners, Schedulers and our Technology team of Supervisors and Technicians always seemed to still make it happen as promised to our customers however much under duress.
I believe the strain of the constant pressure due to over committing our resources weighed heavy on some of the team and this coursed a fairly high attrition rate.
Over all Management was sincere and the people I worked with were absolutely first class in their work and their personalities.
I cannot speak higher of our people especially the Area Manager who was like every bodies father and 100% committed to our team.
The company also has and expects very high safety standards in the industry.

At this particular branch the morale is horrendous. Tradesmen think their s**t doesnt stink. The attitude from majority of the trades in the workshop is very poor and belittling. Supervisors are not capable of the roles they are in. People sneakily watch you to see if you are doing anything wrong and report you for anything minutely out of the ordinary. Personnel have been in their positions for too long that they are miserable and bring everybody else down with them. Very bad culture and traits to have in a workplace that is trying to succeed. If you are able get competencies/tickets elsewhere do it, the institute could not organise training if it slapped them in the face.

A typical day and night at Westrac Mount Thorley was based on servicing and reluging bull dozer tracks and shoes anywhere from Cat D11bull dozers to D9 bull dozers. 

This trade assistant job was a fun and great learning experience I had the pleasure to do straight out of school, I learnt how to operate machinery from a 100T brake press to an overhead Crain, I learnt how to work in the mining industry with a great mining team.

The management and the co workers at Westrac Mount Thorley where great in getting you up to speed in the safety and procedures of the site.

the hardest part of what I did was the long hours and the heat of the day.

The most enjoyable part working at Westrac was the friendships and experience I made whilst I was there.

Performance reviews often overlooked until pushed. The head wouldn't know what the tail was doing in poor management practices. Management wouldn’t confront bad team issues until too late. Hiring a mate program that gets you $ doesn’t often produce quality. Yet management puts too much blind faith in very bad supervisors. Quality wasn't a concern nor hostile work environments. My work
performance dropped along with the quality of new hires that fostered a bad environment with coworkers and disrespect towards supervisors (albeit being unfit). 


I worked 4 days on, 4 days off 12 hour days. It was a great place to work good team environment. High standard safety. I learnt to work on some large equipment. Management was great, lots of training, care of staff. The hardest part of the job was when Westrac shut the Agricultural side of the business. I enjoyed fixing machinery. I enjoyed the Co-coordinator  side of the job assigning jobs to staff closing jobs off, communicating with the clients. I enjoyed the training we went on to learn more about the equipment.

the men and women I worked with in my 7+ years in the employ of westrac were among the best and brightest I have ever known.
the training, advancement and respect shown me within the organisation were inspiring and unforgettable.

this is the employer of choice in my opinion and I am sorry I ever left there employ. 

the experience and qualities that were emplaced within my working career are with me today.

The day working other than drills is a typical working day for me.
I learnt lot about haul trucks,Wheel loader,Diggers,Gradres,Dozers etc.

Management is safety concerned and very co operative. Organised lots of skill upgrades for their employees.

Most of the Co workers supportive and encouraging & Sharing knowledge ,Team work.

The hardest part i found is that organising right parts for the job.

Major trouble shooting on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Westrac has an awful culture that starts with management and makes it way down throughout the team. Blame game, unqualified managers being promoted into positions they are incapable of managing. Borderline bullying. The morale is always low and people don’t want to come into work. The People and Culture department is the worst I have even seen. Nothing changes and nothing will change. I would never recommend Westrac to anyone

No training/instructions from management. Culture is to give family members/friends jobs with no prior experience over staff that's been there for years. Pay is the worst in Newcastle and is impossible to reach a decent wage due to the steps you have to go through due to a "matrix" created 20 years ago. Hours of work is deplorable for award(nice way of saying minimum) wage and you tend to work 14 hours per day with travel so forget having a family life!!

Working in the warehouse as a picker.  You are constantly walking or standing for 5+ hours. No opportunity to rest or sit.
Not a lot of communication from management,
Repetitive work.
Not a lot of opportunity to work in other areas of the warehouse.
