Waverley Council

I very much enjoyed working for Waverley Council.
It is located next door to a beautifully kept park, Waverley Park and in close proximity of Bondi Beach, both being great lunchtime destinations. 
Employees are well trained in the ethics, values and customer service which are extremely important to the Council. 
Team training included fun components such as making our own Origami Christmas decorations and Cultural events.
My co-workers were a hard working HR team which I very much enjoyed being part of. We loved achieving things as a team.  
Hardest part of the job was the constant workload and the entire team helped achieve goals and completion of workload. 
Most enjoyable was the camaraderie between the team and our co-workers. All were pleasant, cooperative and at the right times we had lots of fun also, like the time we had a surprise Zumba workshop. 
Praise was always forthcoming from our Manager for a job well done and he was an excellent peoples person. 
He was always open to improvement suggestions and we were always improving processes and the way things were done, with great time savings as a result. 


A balance of face to face and phone enquires from ratepayers and council stakeholders. In the call centre this would involve using various databases to access and provide services to the public.
Supportive learning environment from management down to fellow team members. Sense of fun as we all worked within a team with the same goals. Without my co workers I could not have advanced so far in my learning. Conflict resolution could be challenging, but not difficult. Using the skills of listening and responding to customer needs and working within protocols these challenges could be achieved with positive outcomes using my iniaitive.

My experience at Waverley Council was unfortunately quite challenging. When I started, there was no formal induction or structured training, which made it difficult to settle into the role effectively. Processes often felt unclear or inconsistent, and communication from management was lacking, which added to the overall sense of disorganisation.

There was minimal support for professional development or on-the-job learning, which made it hard to grow or improve in the role. Additionally, I found the workplace culture to be unwelcoming, which impacted overall morale and made it difficult to feel part of the team.

If they didn’t have M’ment that were friends at another council & got rid of anyone with a decent IQ, it would be a lot better.
If the Supervisor, based at our site, was in charge, I’d still be there.
Very amateur in my eyes. When you can drive a worker from continually having a smile on his face, to someone that is treated with total disdain, and developed a constant hatred of management there is something wrong with the  top of the tree. 

Fun workplace bbqs on a regular meetings.

Monday is a typical day reserves are filthy.
Customer service, politeness, friendly and recognition from the public.

Management no matter how big or obstacle the job is , I break it down and find short cuts.

Co-workers are I be careful what I say. Hardest part of my job is to make it simple.

Most enjoyable part of the job is being on your own.

Working around some of Sydney’s most beautiful and famous beaches makes for a desirable work environment.



One day extremely busy the next dull and quiet. Management decisions not transparent enough. No consultation with staff at the coalface as to decisions about staffing requirement and what current issues were. 

Good place to work providing you are willing to listen and learn. You need to deal with different situations that can arise on every day. You also need to learn the elements of local government, waste, rates, da proposals, venue hire, rangers.

Drove heavy vehicle, team leader. Enjoyed the early starts and finishing times and enjoyed working in a team. The job included emptying recycle bins, taking the truck to the tip daily and maintaining the vehicle. I was responsible for all crew.

Early start early finish, good group of men to work with.Hot showers at the end of a days work,washing machine & dryer to wash work clothes in, public transport was easy with dropping off close to depot.
