I was employed at Alcoa's residue at its Kwinana facility, firstly for CECK and then WBHO who took over the contract. Despite the takeover the personal and management stayed the same. The pay was fair, the equipment was in poor condition but the job on the whole was quite enjoyable. The downside was the two bosses. In 25yrs of experience working in the construction industry I have never worked for two of the most dysfunctional, agitated and demanding odd balls. The turnover of employees was almost on a weekly basis. The senior management at it's offices in Navel Base were aware of both characters yet chose to turn a blind eye. WBHO no longer have this particular contract with Alcoa.

Lots of pre job planning which wasn't getting backed up by the procurement or civil works at times so the hauling side struggled to get flowing. I learned that you cant get too caught up in little issues as you lose sight of the big picture, management were generally ok although they were limited by the powers above . Hardest part was probably trying to motivate people when we had been waiting sometimes for hours to complete our job. Best part was successfully hauling maybe 1 or 2km of cable in a day and having all the paperwork correctly filled out knowing it was my responsibility as the team leader to do this.

I enjoyed working with WBHO most of my time. I learnt alot and got to travel. Some of the management were consistantly making bad decisions and I did experience some rasism that did not conclude in a termination which i thought should have. Was hard work most of the time.There was favoritism among certain guys which was not fair. I know we got the minimum allowance such as food and travel and many workers were not happy. They didnt keep certain promises that they were suppose to even like putting us through TAFE properly to finish our training etc.. Most of my time and experience was good though.

Workplace culture at WBHO was very good. A true team environment & excellent OHSE values & records. Constantly striving to meet the requirements of their customers to provide a strong support network & reduce costs to customers & internal requirements.

Was a company that I really enjoyed working for. Plenty of Challenges and Experience given in a variety of different fields.

Had great managers over the time and was happy for the areas I was to deliver over the period of time. Work life balance was not always the greatest but worked at the time

Was working with the maintenance crew at the oil refinery, great crew to work with. Really well run team.  We were sorting out the formwork such as footpaths and steps around the new office area once they were landed. The pay could of been a bit better for what we were doing but apart from that was great.

great company, huge variety of work very good salary package and opportunity for  advancement within the company, excellent management structure who are very easy to approach about any issues. excellent health and safety department which has lead to this company having a very good safety record.

This company gives people the chance to kick start their mining and construction career. 
If you show management that you are willing to learn and contribute to the company you will be rewarded with the opportunity to gain national recognised tickets in this ever expanding industry.

Many of the people in the project team were wonderful, helpful and very accommodating.  The project team grew very quickly and in my opinion may not have been the right choice for existing team members in many cases.

When they took over from north coast holdings it took a turn for the worse, We quickly became a number and because of that they quickly lost a lot of valuable employees. I wouldnt recommend any one work for that out fit
