I would start the day by swiping in and then checking all emails for the day and responding accordingly

Then doing a handover with Duty Managers and assuring no previous faults or errors have been accounted for

I would then do a quick 121 with General Manager to ensure we are on the same page and all customer queries and complaint have been resolved and what the objective in regards to KPI and targets is for the day ahead

Then all meetings with customers and all 121s with staffs are carried out

Overall club walks to ensure health and safety regulations are met and customer care is 100%

All staff are in correct uniform and performing job role correctly 

And ensuring that no problems are left unresolved

Staff are very easy to get along with and often turned to me for support 

The hardest part of my job was covering the Gym Floor breaks as members would often ask for advise on certain equipment and i was not qualified enough to inform them so often had to make them wait for a qualified staff member to return

The most enjoyable part of my role was customer and staff interaction and dealing with complaints

A helpful and flexible job when in a desperate time - for me it was the only thing that fit well around my study hours, however the 5am starts and 10:30pm finishes nearly killed me during semesters! Would definitely recommend getting a more 'normal hours' job if you can manage it - even if you think you'll be fine! Management in my club was great, very understanding and flexible culture, I always felt valued as a person rather than just seen as a task. However the pay was very low for some of the heavy things we had to do - ie extreme deep cleaning, and we don't get paid nearly as much as other qualified pool lifeguards in Sydney. Virgin was great for me for a season but definitely took over my life and wrecked my sleep schedule. Not for the faint of heart!

Daily, I interact with member either via telephone, email or one to one. The conversations are mainly enjoyable as they tell you about their lives and what they do. I get to meet members from my past, which brings up a lot of memories; however I do come across rude and unpleasant members. This has taught me to keep my cool and articulate a point across, without sounding rude or undermining.

Overall I love my work place, including my co-workers and members. My work place is a second family

My role as a Fitness Professional at Virgin Active required me to provide great customer service to each of my clients this includes scheduling and planning of their personal training sessions, adjusting to my clients changing schedules, and providing written feedback of their progress towards achieving better health. Maintaining great customer relations was a key to achieving rapid growth as a Fitness Professional within Virgin Active.

Workplace culture is non existent aside from the child crèche and swim school. Management have no communication skills nor people skills. Everything management does is very sneaky and unprofessional. Front of house staff and duty managers are over worked and micromanaged, even down to how they stand at reception desk. Unless you become best friends with the club manager or operations manager, good luck! 

If you’re a personal trainer expect to be doing a lot of other roles for them e.g. cleaning, admin etc. The floor hours are helpful to start off but I would regularly finish at 8pm and come back at 6am so the scheduling on their end was bad. You also had to do a lot of free work 

Don’t expect and sense if security or loyalty returned to you fro this company. 
They are all smiles and but lack sincerity and any real quality in majority (not all ) of trainers and management

Management were supportive of each individual's journey and encouraged growth and up-skilling. Great for meeting young, like-minded fitness orientated individuals and gain friendships outside of work. Overall a positive work environment in stunning clubs - definitely a leader in Australian fitness.
