Save yourself the headache and stress and do not work here. 
Management is an absolute joke here. If you are in QPS, be ready for your TL to not take accountability for their own mistakes. She would rather push that onto you or your team.
90% of management are passive aggressive and they love to play favourites. They like to push as many tasks onto you as possible, and this is more than just an isolated incident with my team, but other teams as well. 
They promote people into management that clearly cannot handle it. In QPS, be prepared to fix the mistakes of your TL, and have them asking you the same basic questions about the project they are in charge of leading. 
In QPS, be ready for your TL hire their own friends, or friends of friends despite them having no knowledge of basic computer skills, and ultimately just dragging the team down at the end. And yet they will continue to push the team to work faster due to their terrible hiring choices. 
They will not check the roster correctly. Imagine being in a 5 person team and your senior manager decides to approve the annual leave of 3 people on the same day. That's more than half the team gone. You WILL be overworked due to managements continuous terrible decisions. 
If you want to advance in your job, be ready to be didsapointed. Not only will management only look at, firstly, their own friends, and secondly, someone who they have chosen as their favourite. You may pick up all the slack for your team, hold the highest dispatch rate, or answer the most calls but, they will skip right past you. They will also give you 0 communications on how your application is progressing. Not even a 'thank you for applying' email, absolutely nothing. 
They promise you a higher pay increase at the end of the year if you take on extra tasks and roles. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. You may be taking in extra work, you may be cross trained and working on 2 projects in 1 go but, they will still mark your work ethics as "average". You will revieve the EXACT same pay increase as the coworker that does the bare minimum. 
YOU WILL BE WORKED TO THE BONES and have 0 acknowledgement. Nothing but the expectation that you can do better. They pay isn't even worth it. They tell you it is 70K per annum however, that is including your super. After tax and your super, you only bring home around 63K. 
Everyday i work here i regret leaving my old job. Just don't do it.



Manager takes hours off you that you worked more than once.
Don’t get paid at all because they just ‘forgot to’ or they get your pay wrong on multiple occasions. Apparently this isn’t a big deal and gets laughed off.
If you’re not high up in their hierarchy you’re not listened to or looked after. 
Office workers that have never done a day of fieldwork in their life create unrealistic targets for fieldworkers.
You offer suggestions to improve things but they aren’t listened to.
Not approached for a pay rise after 3 years of service.
Not put on other projects that actually might interest you.
Don’t get paid penalty rates on weekends.
If it’s a public holiday in your state but you’re working in a different state you should be entitled to public holiday entitlements. This doesn’t apply to this company for some reason. 
Work in summer doing manual labour and feel guilty about taking a 5 minute break to drink some water. They are meant to be safety focussed company.
Uninspiring projects.
All the good work you do is forgotten about and they only focus on negatives.
No reward for loyalty to the company or hard work.
It’s alright for office workers to make mistakes constantly but if you do they threaten to fire you.
People that start after you and have no background in the chosen field end up being your manager when it should be the other way around.
Managers are nice to your face but then say bad things about you to other employees.
Have to go interstate on short notice.
Everything organised at the last second puts more pressure on fieldworkers.
Ask for basic facilities when staying away from home but get hotels that don’t have what you need. 
I’ve never worked so hard in my life for so little reward.
Unless you’re at the top of the food chain you aren’t respected.
It’s all about the client and nothing for the employee.
Get talked to poorly when you’re just starting and receiving on the job training. 




I run crews on nigh-shift and when I’m not running crews I’m there to assist as an offsider. I Started working for Ventia this year in January. 

17+ years I been in the workforce and never have I worked for a company that lacks so much structure, understanding and professionalism. 

Yes I’ve wanted to quit multiple times already. Yes I’ve lost sleep due to the stress of work. Yes I feel like I have mental health issues due to work. Yes at times I’m not sure if it’s even a workplace because far
 Too often  I’m mistaken as I feels more like a High-school. 

Too many grown up kids I swear it’s degrading. the backstabbing here is a normal thing. Getting thrown under the bus for trying to help out is a normal thing. This is the Ventia culture. Get used to it.

If you do find yourself working here. 
Stay true to you’re own values. 
Treat everyone with respect. 
Do you’re job to the best of you’re ability, Show some initiative. Stay switched on. 
Look out for yourself when your on the roads, these traffic controllers are useless, they are paid to protect you but instead they sleep in their Utes, come to work half asleep just Don’t trust them!

Stay out of the politics and show abit of interest in wanting to level up. 
Speak to the right people for what you want and need and I believe You will be fine. 


I would give this company zero stars if I could. Equipment breaks often and stays broken for a long time. This includes plumbing and electrics - many danger tags attached to electrical sockets throughout building (although anything public facing gets fixed quickly). Management seem more interested in cosmetic improvements like installing tvs, or fake plastic foliage instead of equipment that helps their staff to do their jobs safely. 
Employees with toxic attitudes and bullies will stay on the payroll despite many many formal and informal complaints from other staff. 
If you work in a service role you are given a lot of lectures/ paperwork to sign about what YOU need to do as part of YOUR Covid response, but it's theatrics, security do not enforce 1.5m distance, hand sanitizing, signing in etc. Calling in sick is a stressful process where you are treated like you're lying and requires multiple different medical certifications (wasting the valuable time of medical professionals, costing the employee $$$ for multiple doctors visits for issues as mild as a cold) that staff routinely come to work sick and supervisors look the other way. They don't care as long as the mines stay open. 

This is by far the worst company I worked for in over 30 years of my professional career, stay away if you can, it's not worth it.
Its unimaginable that such a toxic  and bad work environment with bullying and double standards still exists.
Site Management doesn't care and upper Management doesn't want to know.
Professionalism and hard work does not get you very far at Ventia and inexperienced Management has double standards.
You don't get a 2 weeks notice for roster changes and roster get put up randomly on a couple days notice and then you are expected to work these shifts. So basically you can't plan anything in your private life. If you don't belong to the little group of favourites your roster will change almost weekly. Just another subtle way to bully people out.
I learned one thing about ventia. None of them gives a s***, Management will do anything whats to their personal worklife or position advantage 
And the employee exploitation works just fine because everybody is just putting up with it, leaves or gets bullied out.



What is the best part of working at the company?
Having a job that was relatively reliable due to it being for a government contract.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Over managed and top heavy workshops meant that there was excessive waste in terms of skills for the mundane tasks performed by tradespeople.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Generally speaking, very good depending on the knowledge of the job from an individual supervisory perspective.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long and slow. Toolbox talk. Routine operational checks of gantry cranes, tow motors and forklifts, cleaning workshop floor and bins, delivery of parts from stores to tradies for work orders, assistance with repairs and maintenance and refurbishment of ageing equipment and vehicles, creating inventories of old stock, occasional pick up of parts or vehicles from subcontractors. Receipt and despatch of goods and general warehousing duties. Rolling Stocktakes.

The two-faced gossiping and backstabbing is unacceptable, with a huge divide between the people doing the physical work and the people sat in the office, with arrogant office workers think they are better than the people doing the "actual" work. As a result there is a lack of trust between people and absolutely no morale.
There is no job progression unless you are part of the gossiping clique, with only selected people being made aware of in-house job vacancies.
There are no work processes or procedures written down any where and as a result people have been making their job up for years - much of which is dated and no longer applicable. If you are new, people will pass their work on to you because they're lazy and you don't know any better.
If you're trying to get a reply about your wages or your leave - good luck!
If you're a hard working, team player with a positive attitude this place isn't for you, you can do better.

My experience working here had a significant negative impact on my mental health. The workplace culture felt toxic and unsupportive, and management appeared completely disconnected from the realities staff were facing daily. Concerns were raised multiple times, yet little to no meaningful action was taken. It often felt like leadership prioritised their own image and targets over the wellbeing of employees. Communication was poor, expectations were unrealistic, and support was minimal. Rather than feeling valued, staff were made to feel replaceable and unheard. Morale was consistently low, and the stress levels were unnecessary and avoidable. A healthy workplace starts with accountable leadership, and unfortunately that was lacking here. I would strongly encourage management to reflect seriously on employee feedback and the impact their approach is having on staff wellbeing. Without real change, I believe this environment will continue to affect employees negatively.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have the pleasure of working with ventia at 2 of their site but unfortunallity they had lost both sites the village manager and staff were 100% best ever people to work along side off.
Will always remember my time the Ventia and the amazing friends I have made and team we work with and together such a great bond.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I guess it's dome of the team at head office sometimes showed lack of support.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The future that we had at our camps we amazing we had such a variety of cultures and yet we all just got on and did our jobs support3d each other. Very rare in staff that's for sure.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wake up start work be ready for your team to start their shifts and make sure we are their for each other through our days

Ventia has a lot of plans to improve and to go above and beyond but is failing horribly at it. Most days you would come to work and it's like they setting you up to fail. Wasting weeks worth of precious working time because 
there is a massive lack of  communication between management, floor staff, sub Contractors, different service lines. 
There is also no proper communication between ventia and suppliers wich leads always to shortages and issues.
Also permanent software issues for years and no intention to fix them.
Just keep on putting pressure on and pretend to redefine service excellence rather looking at one of their most important assets - their staff.
I never had a worse and more frustrating work experience in the previous 25 years of my career.
The day you walk out of the door it's like taking a deep breath and feeling instantly better.
