Did some work for a team here and it was dreadful. It became a standing joke - "What have they given us to do today and what haven they told us about it?" There would always be something you hadn't been told and you'd be in trouble for getting it wrong. The usual was that you would be told the immediate task but not the whole job. E.g.: 'while doing this, make sure you turn the air conditioner on' but not to leave it on when you left. Nor that the task had to be completed in one go, not taking breaks. As you were given no protocol to follow, you had no idea what was meant to happen, then you're given incomplete instructions. Thats a good way to get things wrong, and we did!
As for the supervision, I was once yelled at for not knowing who had set something up wrongly, when I was working out of sight and was lowest on the food chain with no right to supervise anyone. This was repeated, so I asked for our team leader to be called in. They did nothing, didn't sort the matter out and left me to the yeller's mercy. Then I was in trouble for not meeting the day's work target. 
Another matter was these targets -  they were set at the rate the most experienced worker could accomplish on their best day, so totally unrealistic for newbies. Again, you weren't popular if you didn't reach them. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The USQ motto is jokingly held to be  "As little as possible".

I had the role primarily of a general administration assistant but my abilities in the area of personal assistant were soon recognised and I was put in charge of replacing the personal assistant to 6 of the Engineering Faculty Deans for 4 weeks while she went on her honeymoon. This involved transferring calls, printing documents, organising meetings and agendas, typing correspondence, front service desk customer service, diary management, a high level of professionalism and a quick response to management needs.
The team were great to work with and I learnt alot about administration in a university environment.
The most challenging part of the role was communicating with international students and staff to ensure correct information was received.
The most enjoyable part of the role was the achievement I felt in being given the opportunity to prove myself and the praise I received for having done a great job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was good cleaning there but unfortunately didn't get shown some areas l was just dropped at McGregor campus and told to clean it without shown where to start and where to finish wasn't given 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
End of year cleans where l cleaned student accommodation l didn't get any help they had unrealistic time frames  and l know some cleaners would finish early and go sit in there cars until it was sigh out time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Most cleaners did a good job it was only a few that did the wrong thing who had extended lunch hours and finished early cause the supervisor started very early and left at at lunch time 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walking around the campus going to different  buildings cleaning glass doors door handles staircase handles ,cleaning kitchenettes light switches  toilets bathroom benchtops

I am currently completing a Certificate III in Business Administration.  I am due to finish in 28/05/2013. I have been employed as a Business Administration Trainee in Student Services for the past 12 months. I am the first point of contact for students who are seeking counseling appointments, welfare, disability services, scholarships and equity and career and employment services. In this role I undertake all reception duties including answering incoming phone calls and making outgoing calls, confirming or rescheduling appointments when needed, ensuring all forms and documents are tidy, up to date and enough are ready for the day, manage and maintaining all Student Services staff calendar diaries and making appointments for all Student Services staff

This job is only a seasonal job, requiring the employees to simply walk around the campus three to five times a day and count how many people are in each room. This data is used to determine what rooms are always in use and what rooms can be used for storage, meetings, different classes, etc.
The original contract is only for space auditing, although I was offered a second contract for data entry following this. This was because I was the only one who asked for more work each day as the counts did not take long.
Because of this attitude, I was offered the same position the following year, and received a written reference from my supervisor.

Generally USQ is a good, stable place to work. However if you're there for longer than a few years it becomes a toxic environment. At both Toowoomba & Springfield, staff don't have many other options for work in the area & begin to feel 'stuck' at USQ....meaning that it becomes a workplace of negativity, ungratefulness & backstabbing. If you approach management about the issues, nothing is addressed or changed. Too much beaurocrcacy. Everyone is there for their own personal advancement. They talk about the importance of work-life balance but there was no such thing in the team I worked in.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff are outstanding. The bus service between campuses also handy.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Fear of redundancy and also no funding due to the university being in financial distress 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not bad, could be better. More transparency from upper leadership required 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Great, not bad at all, enjoyed working there.

My first day as a tutor, I was very nervous though had substantail experience in teaching but I was a student and simultaneously teaching my co-students or juniors. Hardest part was some students taking me very lightly and most enjoyable part was solving their queries instantly if not providing satisfactory response. my co-workers were really co-operative and the support from management was encouraging and still is.

The other volunteers are very helpful and always positive, it made me feel like I was really doing good for others. the organisers are very friendly and always able to answer questions. the co-volunteers are fellow students and we have made good friendships based upon volunteering at USQ. I enjoyed helping and meeting new people, as it is very rewarding.

Student Support staff are very supportive and positive. The grounds are attractive and fairly easy to navigate. The student amenities have improved, so there is a large indoor area with catered food and alcohol available. The library is well laid out with a good selection of material and helpful staff.
