Uber Drivers

This is From my experience as an Uber Driver of 4 months.

So it begins with the majority of people disrespect you from the get go and this start's by slamming your doors on entry and departure.Eat and drink in your car,smoke and leave their rubbish behind.The riders will start to second guess your intelligence and make rude harsh comments that are very disrespectful and demeaning. Don't bother trying to stand up for yourself as the rider always has it figured out it is like arguing with a Drunk!

Riders will expect you to pick them up from the shops or go the shops while your en route to your destination sometimes taking ten minutes or so and many fail to either add this as a stop or just tell you too wait as they will be a second which is never the case! 

Most of the time the riders will put the wrong pickup locations and refuse to even cross the road as they will make the Uber Driver come exactly to them. When the riders put the wrong destinations in they will turn it on you as if you were to blame. You can be helpful and go above and beyond and the riders very rarely rate when they are happy but when they don't like something they won't forget to rate 1

The Riders will complain about everything and anything, Too fast,Too slow, the way the rider talked ,the way the rider din't talk, the way the rider looked at me,Etc the List doesn't end and this is to get a Discount on an already Discounted ride. Go Figure.

Riders will instruct you to go another way then behind your back will complain to Uber to get refunded as people have worked how to Scam the system. Some Riders will put a destination in and during the trip they will tell you to stop further or pick up another person then get defensive and Rate you 1 when you refuse. Some will even expect you to Buy McDonald's as they use the line " The other Uber driver did it"!

They will yell out of your car when they are intoxicated sometimes even try to sneak a extra person in the back while the passenger in the front distracts the driver as when you explain to upgrade the Uber to XL they find that offensive and prefer if they cheat their method on you.

When you pick up riders and they are not at their destination points they text where are you and expect you to text while you drive totally oblivious that you must drive not try and text. The Riders will leave belongings in the car and Uber will Glady give your number to  the rider out and you will have to meet the rider at their choice of location even though they left their item in your car.

Riders will intentionally try to cause conflict even when you remain silent and this is part of the tactic to get a Discount on a Discounted ride already.

You will have to work the whole 12 hour days so 5-9am is recommended at the start then 3pm to 11pm to wrap up the 12 hour day and this is 6 days a week with the weekend a little different in the times.

Riders will constantly put you down and try crush your spirit so if you have people skills and knowledge of the roads this is all that will save you as riders will suck the very life from you.

Uber pool can sometimes go for up to 3 hours and at times the App freezes it's location so you will have no choice but to call the rider and rely on your own navigation skills.Many Riders do not understand how the Pool system works and expect you to neglect other users when they are already in the car instructing not to pick up the next passenger and that they would like to get out at another point.
This Job will Crush your very spirit and if your not thick skinned you better be as this will drain you severely.

Your are better packing shelves at Coles More more money and less headaches

Working in Sydney Australia I've been driving for a month people say you make all this great money but in reality you don't!!! firstly as a women for safety reason and peace of mind it would be awesome if Uber got thier buisness together and actually gives you all the details of where the riders final destination pick up and drop off actually is beforehand so when you accept the trip you know how long you will be and where your actually going to better papare...

Not this play blind not knowing where your going till you pick them up, then you can't get out of it!! once thier in your car ... and if you drive them an hour away you won't get trips to come back home, so you have to count the tolls and the one hour you have to head back wasting your petrol, and etags tolls, kilometers,time your not making money heading home!! just silly!!! not to mention bad gps signals will get you lost and passanger have no heart to help you!! you do them a favor picking them up!!!  giving them a ride in your nice well kept car be so nice to them, and they give you a bad rating.... you didn't even get them lost you just ask them one question is that the place??!!! and they don't like you asking them, and rate you bad star people are so irrational, and non understanding especially if its not in an area you've ever been to before so unfair...


The rate of the the petrol price going up most the money you make goes on petrol, insurance, repairs raising the kilometers depreciating the value of your car!!! in the end there is a reason way taxi cost 3x more than Uber also Uber taking a ridiculous 25% of each trip you make which is hardly fair, since you're the one who is dealing with the customers you're the one who has to stress your self on busy roads, try not to get in an accident, pay for the petrol, eTAG the car service, insurance!!!

i feel you don't make money with uber they need to pay the drivers alot more money then what they are now!!! this job is not recommended for full time, long term job, Short term or if your bored yes. 

UBER LISTEN UP!!! YOU NEED TO PAY US A HECK OF A LOT MORE OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR 5 STAR DRIVERS AND BE LEFT WITH DUD DRIVERS THINK ABOUT THAT UBER!!!

I honestly don't think anyone should work with uber untill they up their pay to above award!! you don't even make $20 an hour i worked online for 27 hours and made $300 thats $11 an hour people!!! This is not including your outgoing expense eg petrol tolls insurance...... Does that sound ike your making a bundle of cash ???

And uber will be putting up their fee even higher to top it off guys.... not to mention they don't take the tax out you have to do that your self every 3 months...

Uber has come a long way in the past several years.  I have seen an improvement in the rider's attitudes and demands. The pay is obviously one area of concern for most people, however, what pay in any industry isn't?  Money is overall the big motivator, most people are always complaining they never get paid enough etc, etc.

Driving with Uber is really what you put into it is what you get out of it.    It's much easier now to deal directly with support through the speciality 1300 number for drivers, you can visit the Hub or email them.  I don't understand some drivers complain about the stress of contacting uber :)

Clearly, I have seen drivers out there who really should not be driving for Uber as these are inexperienced and somewhat not suitable for this role. it is demanding at times but you need to be able to use your common sense, logic, able to navigate using the driver app, have excellent communication skills, be tactful and diplomatic, know how to conduct yourself, be assertive to situations and most of all don't mind driving.  

For those that complain about driving in the peak hour traffic, then don't drive those times, Uber isn't forcing you.

Like I said earlier, what you put in is what you get out of Uber, you drive you earn, you complain you will hate it more and you will not earn, simple!!!

Also, to the incompetent out there, you realise you don't have to drive "your" car you can rent a car instead.

It's your choice and up to you, how you choose to work with UBER.
If you feel the money is not earning you enough then work another part-time job.  Uber is there for the filler when you are in-between jobs, working for yourself, or a part-timer, looking for a supplement income.   There are those who do work uber full-time, but they put the hours in or have another income stream for added security.

In terms of security, Uber is here to stay and will always have a need for riders and drivers alike, therefore work is available with some amount of money to assist in your everyday living.  

I also encourage females, only a few of us around :)

A brilliant company, excellent business model to shrink the industry gap and solve societies problems particularly in the area of boosting employment rate and reducing the service cost proving an alternative option.

The Uber experience is amazing and I was grateful to have the opportunity to explore the job.
I really enjoyed driving around and meeting all sorts of people with awesome persona.
It has taken me to many places I would not have driven otherwise and I have had the privilege to explore the beautiful landscape of SYDNEY!
The Uber business is very creative and leading by opening up the whole new sector.
The company policy, the only downside about it is that Uber partners to Uber are more like a tool and Uber drivers are easily replaceable.
The customer service for the Australian/Oceana region are not very satisfactory in meeting my needs as they have unfairly and without being considerate and caring has decided to stop letting me drive due to little errors. 
I have helped Uber taken so many rider requests and have been doing great overall with ratings increasing after taking up A Rider Induction Course which I paid, Uber Cease my driving opportunities for silly unworthy reasons without consulting/discussing with me.

Uber also have too many drama together with negative publicity.
Uber riders also has been given the power to abuse Uber Driver-Partners with rider feedback, in which Uber than uses it to threaten our job and financial security. I would like to be able to drive as an Uber-Partner again.

Other than that Uber is a really good company.

I am an UberEats delivery cyclist. To summarize the job... I waited 2 days while watching my phone constantly in a hotspot for 1 trip, rode 8 km's despite the trip calculating much less. $10... And it cost me more in feeding myself than what I earned on those 2 days. That is NORMAL.... 

Getting set up with UberEats was a pathetic sisaster which took ME three weeks due to incompetent recruiters in James St Fortitude Valley branch in Brisbane. I cant really describe the stress and insecurity of the job. You can hang around hotapots all you like but you bust your guts for chickenshit wages and have to pay tax and GST so dont spend your entore wage. You will be in debt to the system. 

I say bugger Uber.

I speak to a lot of other company riders doing deloveroes that make base salary wages which are still $6 short of min wage like Foodora amd Deliveroo that get way more jobs amd have security. Uber lie through their teeth at the induction... Dont fall for ot and dont invest in a $20 bag for em. Find a real job.

Uber are Trouble with a capital T. They have great customer aupport but wait until you need to call them as an employee.... You wait.... 

I post this review to WARN those who were innocent to the decwption of the job. A lot of people will say the same but fondong the reviews takes effort. I wish I never signed up. I lost money investing my life in this job. I make less money than I have to spend to do the job.....

I just quit. Bugger it for a joke. Dont fall for it. Unemployment is kinder to your soul than busting your guts and having it crushed time over.

I m from sydney live 10mins to the city . Seem to be a great location. I worked house removal , delivery take away during uni almost 15 years ago. Well I say to myself give it try. Is good opportunity to be self employed or before starting your own business since is the same concept . You have good days and rainy days. Consider a small investment compare to any other setup cost like opening takeaway. The benefit you don't have to think of how to get customer, because they come to you. I chosen only work for the hours in high demand which I looked at time like 8pm to 12 near cbd 1. Rush hours gone. 2. Right after people finish dinner or work over time. 3 senseable rider will be home before 12. I consider this is only for part time job to earn extra money. Benefits are Having $200/300 extra per week will be handle. you will feel better off with no pressure from boss or anyone , is flexible on the other hand I can say is lazy you just don't want be control or responable. Switch to offline when you wanted. Con side : This isn't anything for future. No skill you can learn, no career growth, and consider those hidden maintaince such as tyres , engine oil and the gearbox wear. Compare to I have done relevance delivery job I think only for short term in life. Don't forgot the back pain for seating too long. Lastly the real deal from George st to Alexandria earn $10. Alexandria to Coogee beach $15. Cbd to Wahroonga $40. 30mins one way . I guess I would make $20 that hour.

The public in Melbourne, Australia love Uber because it's dirt cheap. It's a great service for Riders. As for Drivers, the exploitation by Uber of drivers is really appalling. 

It is not possible to run a car like a taxi for the very low money Uber are offering. Drivers would not last very long & just write the whole thing off as a joke. 

For example, on a Friday I worked non-stop from 8am to 7pm. There was no down time. It was very busy. 

For 11hrs flat-chat in my own car I made $273 for myself. 

Every dollar earnt with Uber is subject to GST so the $273 includes GST. I used a whole tank of LP Gas at $36. Then take out income tax & factor in very heavy wear & tear on the car. 

I put 242km on the car on this day. 

I doubt Uber will remain in business for very long. They'll eventually struggle to find anyone to drive for them. 

Taxis are more expensive but the cost of running the vehicle is reflected in this cost. 

Uber are only interested in the Rider experience. Uber has a business model that relies on naive Drivers to keep it all going. The turnover of Drivers must be massive because even when this service is going gangbusters & there is work everywhere, it is untenable to run a car & produce a profit as a Driver with Uber. 

If Uber supplied the car & fuel it would still be a very low paying job. 

Absolute waste of time. 

If you love the idea of destroying your car for free while Uber exploits you & rakes in cash from your asset (your car) go & drive for Uber.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Work at your own pace and time but limited to how much you earn best to plan to work at busy stages of the day like at breakfast lunch and dinner times 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working at times that have very little work available at a certain time 
Dealing with traffic all day and working out whether a particular trip is worth doing per distance and how much a particular trip earns versus what time it takes up and pays 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As you work on your own in your own car it’s all down to you
You can make it easy or you can make it hard it’s all about how you view it and how you want to show your own work ethic 
If you work poorly where as no due care for an order or a trip with a customer you will potentially get bad reviews and if so decreases your work potential 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Slow going and fast paced depends on the time of day 
Generally it’s good but can be stressful waiting for a long time at fast food restaurants that don’t get it ready to go before you arrive means more time waiting less time earning

Being a delivery partner with Uber is a shame, they do not pay for all the trips, some of them don't come at all on the app and when you complain they say they will get back in 24 hours; which is a lie again as they don't, and when they finally do they ask for screenshots previous to accept a trip, they are dodgy, their Practices are poor, actually they are very lower than poor. 
Also before accepting a trip it says an estimated price and after they pay whatever they want as well as when you take long on a trip because the restaurant took ages or the idiot waiting at the house also took ages, then Uber not always recognizes the waiting and they pay what they want to because they are only good to take as much as possible from the drivers, they steal as much as they can and then play the game asking for more info than of course after 2/3 weeks you won't have or you never had as you never expected them to steal from you this way. 
They are supposed to have access to all but they play games to make you drop the claim or forget and that how they end up stealing your money. 
It also wouldn't surprise me if they stay with the tips 90% of the times and does not end up giving them to the drivers.

I started working for Uber in 2017 upon which everything seemed alright I paid on a per kilometre basis $1.30 per kilometre a pickup fee had a drop off fee each $2 50 then on top of that if you had a second delivery you're also got paid $2.50 for the pick-up as well as the drop off. In 2018 this is where things started to get bad so Uber eats brought out a ne new contract where they removed the drop off fee on all orders and only paid per kilometre as well as 1 pick up fee as time progressed on up until now 2023 there has been a progressive decline each year in earnings which is the polar opposite to what you would expect with increasing prices on things like your basic essentials and was not in line with other industries where there was an increase in wages it was a decline to keep this as short as possible I would highly not recommend working for this company as you will end up bankrupt and your earnings foot only beyond the average $7 to $9 per hour after expenses do not work for a company that can't appreciate their contractors.
