Entering this role, you'll likely experience initial hope and optimism. However, the reality can differ from expectations. Be prepared for demanding conditions, including extended shifts and potential "doubles," late finishes, and early starts the next day. Unexpected shift cancellations by management without prior notice are also possible.

You might encounter situations where you're assigned to a house with multiple participants without knowing which individual you are meant to support. Additionally, access to support plans on personal devices may be restricted, requiring on-shift familiarisation with participants, a crucial step to avoid missing vital information.

Despite these challenges, this company offers the opportunity to work with wonderful participants and supportive colleagues. If you can navigate the less desirable aspects, you might find this a rewarding place to work.


This company hires people with no experience because people with no experience don't know any better. Quickly learnt there are no professional standards and personal boundaries are constantly disrespected. 

Clients privacy constantly breached. People who work here want to make a difference but the structures in place make that nearly impossible. 

Called up to 10 times a day on days off to come into work. Being on shift for 20 hours with no apologies. Toxic work culture. 

The directors son created an intranet software that doesn't work, so staff couldn't access client files, do shift notes, check rosters. Conflict of interest. 

Constantly left on shift. Impossible to have a work life balance. 



Very Poor Overstretched management, budget cuts wherever they can including your timesheets you can expect to be there at least 15-20 minutes more every shift without being paid would be fine if it wasn’t everytime no KM. Poor communication & old ways of forms & timesheets so many forms & books to fill in on shift and if your out with participants or busy and don’t get a chance it comes down to staying after and doing all the admin, paid around 5 days after your fortnight ends If you’re a friend or acquaintance you will get all the preferences and shifts. 

The executive management team are so toxic and they are all friends and family with each other. There is no support, and the company do not care about their clients, rather just the money they can make from them. There is no training, no support, unless of course you are part of the management team. High turnover of staff and the same jobs are always advertised due to not being able to keep staff. Stay away!

Thrive House are a shining example of an organisation that exists for the right reasons. They have made a difference in the lives of so many!  Their level of expertise, professionalism, advocacy and sector knowledge is exceptional. The passion and dedication of all employees is contagious and the outcomes they achieve for those they support demonstrate their dedication. 

I've worked at this company for 2 years now and they have supported my development immensely. I have been able to speak to the directors about any issues I'm having, and they're always so supportive and kind with giving me time off if I need it. It feels like this place is my family. We constantly have fun events running, and free food <3.

Toxic, disorganised, unprofessional and unethical expectations of employees. There is no work life balance because sometimes you start 2pm one day  and do finish until late afternoon two days later because people cancel their shifts last minute and others refuse to cover shifts. The whole company needs to be closed down!!

Lots of autonomy and ability to structure my day. Feedback culture is respectful and constructive. My line manager gives me full trust and I am actively involved in management decisions that may affect my work. Super supportive place and great staff. 

Absolutely love working at Thrive! The team here is incredibly passionate and caring, providing top-notch care for the kids. Despite the complexities, everyone works together as a team. I'm proud to be a part of this team and grateful for the opportunity to do a job I truly enjoy. 

I have been in the workforce for many years and I feel I'm lucky to have needed a job when I saw the Thrive House advertisement.
The job is fulfilling and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I work in an amazing team and will continue here for a very long time.
