I have a very positive experience working at Thomas Foods. The management team demonstrates strong leadership and is highly approachable, making it easy to ask questions or seek guidance when challenges arise. They provide clear instructions and expectations, which helps the team stay organized and efficient. I appreciate their focus on maintaining a safe and structured work environment, which reflects their commitment to employee well-being and operational excellence. I can't recommend this company to anyone unless its your last choice.  Majority of the workers will never advance any further then the bottom.  Even the ones that do advance won't go much further.
Job security is non-existing as they have a mind set of anyone is replaceable regardless of how long or how much you know.
Get bare little benefits with discounted meat (Still close if not the same as what you pay at the store).  Must buy in bulk as well (10-24KG of meat at a time depending on what type of meat).
Management is basically only there to tell off the workers or hand ball their own work to others.
The pay is fairly low on average across the board with little chance of getting any decent pay.
Other then the actual people you'll be working with, there isn't much positive things here to want to work here,

TFI offers no job security, as of AUG 2019 150 people were made redundant at TFI Lobethal to increase profits and were given 1 weeks notice of the change. Employees are being threatened that they will lose their position on the roster if they take any leave approved or not. Company policy states if employees volunteer they will be paid for their time away from work, however, employees are being sacked if they take time off of work even if they had to respond to an emergency. Workers and supervisors are great, however, management is incompetent, rude, spineless and do not care for the worker's health, safety and working conditions.

Do not work for this company, they say it's family-owned and orientated but they are just out to make as much money as possible and to that TFI cut corners and the first corner they cut is with the workers.

Managers and supervisors harass new workers out of nowhere and keep repeating the same thing even though you do your job right. You can't even say "I did that" because it will be considered back talking and they will threaten to take you to head office over it. They love to yell at workers. The equipment keeps breaking down and the maintenance team can't fix it if their life depended on it. They prefer firing people and hiring new workers instead of retaining the already trained staff. Don't believe their promise of overtime, because you'll get none. Overall, very bad work environment. The only good thing are some of the workers, who truly work hard and genuinly try to help new recruits. 

Worked at this company for nearly two years. If i could give it negative rating i would. I'm suprised i even lasted that long, the way they treat you as a worker is poor, what they pay you is below minimum wage, the hours were ridiculous working 13-15 hour days doing hard labouring with ridiculous break times that some people don't even bother going out to, and the pay did not show those hours at all. the way they run the company and the management is a joke, the company and "supervisors" do not at all value you and they make that clear, they don't know what they're doing or how to even handle situations or issues. I can speak for a lot of people when i say i would never work back at tfi again.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Educating the people about Halal industry and standards as they have had  misunderstanding. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
New primesis but toilet lines not good, blockage...
New workers with now experience and awareness so doing wrong things

Some people have poor ethics and take shortcuts in following standards.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Direct 100% supervision 
For Halal compliance. Including training and monitoring Halal procedures and daily reporting.

I have learnt how to tell the difference between Cows, Bulls, Steers and Heifers with the hide on and off. Also the dentition for the cows to see what age that it is, Find out if it is a Male or Female or Bull. I also learnt how to tell the butt Shape, Fat Depth and colours of fat and all cuts of the meat. I enjoyed working with all my co-workers most are very friendly and hardworking and willing to help you out if they can. The hardest part of my job would be making sure all computers that I work with stays on the right system from the start of the day to end and it is not always easy when you have 3 computers to run up and down checking all day.

A typical day starts here very early and can sometimes run until later in the afternoon.
I found that local management were very stunted in terms of trying to get anything fixed or working in the first place. A very apathetic approach.
Most of the employees I found were very nice and come from a diverse range of cultures. However the workplace culture suffers from an aggressive approach to general workers being altogether disposable.
The hardest part of my job was dealing with red tape and other agendas and the most enjoyable was interacting with people and learning about other cultures.

Hardworking industry, repetitive and constant. learnt quiet a lot whilst i was working there, there management was outstanding and there communication was outstanding, most jobs that i leart weren't that hard, just speed of it was the issue and only given a certain time to learn it is also a main contribute. I love all the jobs i done and the time i spent there the employees were very welcoming and the staff were extra nice and welcoming. would recommend working here to anyone and everyone.

Have not been able to learn anything else but one part of my job. Company employs a lot of non English speaking people ( hooray diversity) which makes it hard to connect and even understand anyone you work with. Barely ever finish on time and always do non optional overtime. Very long hours so cannot have commitments after work at all, even if it is for your health. Have onsite nurse, but won't send you home unless you literally vomit or have diarrhoea on site. Not much is enjoyable since pay is regularly not paid correctly. A few employees make it easier.
