a typical day at Thingz, would include getting to work as early as 7.30 by the bus as it was an easy time. i would then check to see if the vaccuuming neededto be done and if so i would do that. i would then count the money in the tills and check the float. store would then open at 9.00am and customers would slowing come in. we would wait for stock to come usually from 9am to 9.30am it would arrive and between 1 and 5 cages of stock, depending on what the call was the previous day. we would then price and put out stock as well as serve customers and help with their needs. any store mark downs or transfers would be done. usually a store recovery would be done sometimes a reblock of an aisel would be done. that would include taking each item off the selves and re doing it all again to either make it look neat or fit new stock in. i learnt how to form a relationship with each customer whether they were locals or not, i learnt how to display merchandise and make it sell. i learnt how to make budgets do stock transferes, customer orders. i learnt how to up sell on products. we had a good group of girls to work with and we all worked fairly good together, helping each other when needed. on occasion i would be runningthe store if the manager and/ or 2IC were away i would keep the store under control. the hardest part of the job was to keep the store looking and feeling 100% sometimes it would be putting the stock out or making sure every single customer would have experienced a great shop. the most enjoyable part of my job was seeing what new products we got in and seeing the girls.

I honestly really enjoy working here. It can be fast paced at times but I enjoy that because I always need to be doing something. Theres always things to do, for example cash handling, lifting and moving heavy boxes and shelving, pricing and putting out stock, recover/cleaning , answering and making calls, and of course helping the extremely diverse set of customers. By doing all this I have now gained my impeccable customer service skills. The workplace environment is great! Everyone gets a long and I can genuinely say I like going to work. The hardest part about the job would probably be dealing with aggressive customers and people who theft. It can really take a toll on you and sometimes it is challenging to handle. The most enjoyable part for me is meeting really lovely customers! Sometimes you just meet someone while helping them find a product they need and they are so lovely that they make your day. I love it!!

Working at Thingz was usually a very slow day (depends on store location and holiday seasons). For the most part, I was stuck at the register waiting for customers. In between serving, I would keep the parameter neat and tidy. I learned how to really empathise with customers as go that extra step to help them out. Never had any difficult customers, the only challenge was on the very rare occasion that the customer couldn't speak very fluent English. the most enjoyable part was also the job's curse; having nothing else to do but wait for customers. It's basically your typical retail position..

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part was  I get to meet a lot of people or customers, especially the elderly and learn new stuff 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The place is full of stuff or product,  have to arrange and rearrange almost daily, I have experienced being bullied by other staff make me feel a bit down and ashamed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not bad, however, can be better.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and constantly having things to do.

Working get at thingz is truely amazing, I love getting called in and sometimes if I have nothing to do like an hour or two before my shift I like to come in early. I’m currently still working at thingz but haven’t got shifts for about 6 weeks and am struggling with money so I though to start looking for a new job

The Manager at the store is really good, but the management above the store level was horrible. had no idea what was really happening in a store and didn't want to know. The staff were super friendly and the overall environment was good. The company lacked structure that I had seen at other companies though.

My experience at Thingz was quite pleasant. I was able to learn a lot as it was my first retail job. The two years that I was there I gained a lot of knowledge whether it was greeting and assisting customers to working on the tills

Loved the store and the customers but the management is horrible. They really do not care about your own wellbeing, overworked to the point of injury. Nasty company politics, very unprofessional.

Products are great, love doing the displays but that is all that is good about working there.  The environment was toxic and the staff very unwelcoming to new staff members 

Working at thingz was amazing. I got a lots of creative ideas from that shop. The customer service technique a was brilliant. Management works well and I love that job
