- Systems that regularly don’t work properly.
- Being required to still be pushy to do surveys with people who may not be keen - if you don’t engage in what they call “refusal aversion” even with people who are simply not interested, you’ll be pulled up on it. You’re expected to push to do a survey with someone knowing they’ll probably hang up due to the theory “if we get started now, there will be less to do later”.
- Staff who are able to freely dish out attitudes but when you try to speak up for yourself, suddenly you’re flagged - others can freely do what they like while you simply have to take it.
- A lot of nitpicking and confusions over how you should do things which doesn’t end up working any way.
- Being strung along and mislead with the understanding that one would be paid the higher rate due to past experience only to then be told down the track that it doesn’t apply due to timeframes. 

This is the type of place people get stuck because it sucks the life out of you but offers just enough perks to keep you from moving on. Pays above award wage due to strong union presence but has no job security and refuses to offer part time/full time work to anyone. 

Your every word and move is monitored. Bathroom/tea breaks are timed and they dock pay illegally if you go above their arbitrary limits.
 
Management tell staff to apply for Centrelink when there is less work so staff are stuck in the system. Most staff received no work for between 6 weeks - 2 months from Christmas into the New Year. 

When COVID-19 happened all my shift were cut with out any communication.

- Repetitive, stressful work. You will enjoy yourself here for a year or so, however it eventually takes its toll on your physical and mental health.
- Management is often unsympathetic.
- Co-workers were excellent people
- Most difficult aspect was maintaining sanity in the wake of torrents of abuse from respondents.
- Most enjoyable part: Roles that did not involve phone work.

While SRC commands significantly more respect than other call centre operations it is unable to break free from the negative aspects associated with call centre work.

The work it draining and often repetitive, but the people and the culture there is very friendly and supportive. The pay is great $28 p/h for interviews) and the shifts are flexible and great for uni students/or having other casual jobs. The main downside is there are sometimes periods of weeks without shifts, due to contracts changing, and little chance of moving from a casual position.

Micromanagement extremes. Literally every second is expected to be transparent. Controlling culure, 1 manager interrupting mid sentence a friendly greeting at the outset of a meeting to instruct to 'be quiet', unbelievably aggressive, offensive. Even an active union are unable to hold them to account. Overarching management behaviour causing negative workplace stress & offense to workers

Research work affects policy, but the work is mostly data collection, so the average job won't require very deep analysis of results (if any). The strength of the organization is the methodological rigour. 

Job was quite busy and stressful at times, and understanding the new systems and platforms can be challenging. 

SRC is a fantastic place to work. I've found my 2 years of employment thus far extremely fulfilling. The management are flexible and understanding about shift cancellations or rescheduling, and great support is offered from team leaders. Best call centre culture I've ever worked in.

Management was hit and miss in that line management are usually telephone staff promoted up.to supervision roles. They could be really rude if they were under pressure. 

Also actual working environment could be uncomfortable as the aircon system kept breaking down - could be fixed now though.

It was work from home opportunity and work was mostly from 4.30 pm to 8.30pm but could differ due to roster . You have contact the clients and ask for their feedbacks and opinions on certain issues on behalf of the departments universities etc.


A good place to work . Work from home model currently with flexible hours. It's not a guarantee of hours. If your produce results you get shifts , if you don't meet kpis your not offered shifts.
