Upper-management, particularly that of state level, was incredibly toxic and used their position to harass, micro-manage, and talk condescendingly to clinicians - leading to low morale, low confidence, distrust, and impacted work performance. It's an open secret among clinician's that upper-management are notorious for micro-managing and being passive aggressive - a cloud that consistently looms over clinicians. Upper-management expect you to work in your personal time and learn quickly and leave little room for empathy and compassion for those who are stressed in the fast-paced role. Team leaders are mixed, with some being inexperienced and not adequately train the newer practitioners and give inaccurate advice. New practitioners can also gain a high caseload with complex clients within a month of being in the role.

An extremely toxic, exploitative, and psychologically exhausting workplace that pushes staff into burnout while pretending to care about wellbeing. Unrealistic KPIs, relentless scrutiny, excessive travel, emotional overload, impossible caseload expectations, and constant pressure are normalised to the point where employees are left anxious, depleted, and disposable. Management culture felt deeply unsupportive and performative, with staff wellbeing clearly taking a back seat to productivity and numbers. The environment became so emotionally draining and unsustainable that it genuinely impacted mental health, and no amount of “support” rhetoric could hide how damaging the workplace culture actually felt behind the scenes.

Insufficient support and a high turnover rate. 9 months in the job and you will be the oldest employee. The team leader's lack of responsiveness and absence during the crucial first two weeks of shadowing and learning the job, coupled with receiving feedback on KPIs from administrative staff members who knows nothing about your job at the end of each months, as well as the constant need to “fight” for clients (e.g. having to keep asking the admin team/ team leader to book more clients for you to meet KPI, due to your appointment canceled:transferred /taken by others last minute), create a challenging work environment. 

ORS Group has quite a good team culture which was led by a supportive and performance focus manager. Main focus of my role was providing support and guidance to job seekers with disability in finding suitable and sustainable employment. Hardest part of job was to source and compete with other mainstream job seekers. However, this can be overcome by strong negotiation, together with good marketing strategies.

ORS group does provide good industry training and support.

The real reward is to see your clients happy with the jobs that you find for them and how this has changed their lives.

Stressful environment that promotes a burn out culture. Increasing KPIs every year and low salaries. The same people being promoted to different management roles at regular intervals while a big portion of the employees are being overlooked. Low quality internal training and inexperienced people being promoted to team leadership based on their closeness to the management. No opportunities for growth or support for meeting career goals. High levels of pressure about meeting KPIs and business profit and no attention to the quality of work or competency of practitioners.

Management top heavy and it is all about who you know not what you know. Management employ their family members and this makes for an uncomfortable workplace and leads to staff having no support and not being able to rely on correct procedures being followed due to management overlooking the behaviour of their family members. If issues arise or oppinions differ staff were singled out and bullied.

Too much work pressure.

Continuous pressure to undertake rigorous training & extra responsibilities while no salary increase was made.

No job security. Made redundant 2 weeks short of 1 year so that no redundancy payment had to be made by them to me & I was left stranded without a job.

Very poor annual salary.

my typical day was assisting adults with Disabilities to gain employment and achieve their goals in moving forward. 

I learnt a lot about Centrelink, disabilities and daily struggles that some people genuinely had. 

Most enjoyable part of my job was seeing the team I was working with and also seeing clients faces when you have helped them gain a job.

As a job it is extremely satisfying to know that I have made a difference in someone else's life and with constant training, I feel my skills and attributes grow with each day.
