Typical Day: Open (putting fresh cakes in the display case, register etc.). Predict product needs for the next few days and start producing those products in order of need (cooking large batches of cakes/cheesecakes, cake decorating), serving customers, Close (clear out display case, balance till).

Management: Management went high up due to this being a franchise...and to be honest, they are greedy...they gave little if no support to the shops I was working in when they were struggling...head office even opened multiple shops around the area because the first two were doing so well...which lead to their ultimate demise! 
There was no flexibility in product variation, so a lot of customers were turned away because we couldn't vary products or produce new ones.
I have found since that where products used to be baked fresh on premises, they are now delivered from Sydney...frozen.

Co-Workers: As is reality in life, everyone is different so there were plenty of difficult people and plenty of nice people who came through...it was a LONG day though if you were working with someone difficult (usually only 2 staff maximum except for weekends).

Hardest part of the job: While I was employed, it was a very long day (9am-7pm...it used to be 8.30-7.30 but we were forced to start on opening and leave on close to save money...even if you were the one opening and closing).
The roster worked over a fortnight and was 4 days one week, 3 the next. There was very limited staff (to save money) so this work day became difficult if someone was sick...especially when the role requires you to do everything...(became hard to stay motivated on task when constantly interrupted to serve a customer).
No opportunity for advancement...dead end job.

Most enjoyable part: Even though the review isnt too good, I still enjoyed working there...especially when I had job security. I enjoyed showing new employees the ropes.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The training is excellent and the workers learn to adhere to standards of the Cheesecake Shop as well as the overall industry standards. Very pleasant working environment with a good supervisor. Even the quality of the products that we put out is wonderful because the supervision is extraordinary.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
In general, the franchise itself provides too many products to keep up with that just clashes with overall work within each branch. Some of the products and protocols that the Cheesecake Shop head office wants employees to follow does not make sense and consumes a ,lot of time of each branch. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and the culture within the Wantirna Cheesecake shop is super wonderful because the Manager makes sure that the shop runs smoothly while maintaining good customer service plus quality products along with the wellbeing of the team.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The workload is not stressful when you have the proper guidance and support from the team and the supervisor. I love working here because it does not drain my mental health.

The Cheesecake shop provided me with a lot of opportunities to gain new skills and improve as an employee. The 2 years working their benefited me greatly and improved me as a person. Working their included serving customers, decorating cakes, making chocolate plaques, writing on cakes, cleaning and many other jobs. It taught me how to write on cakes, what ingredients are used to make a cheesecake, how to help customers find the perfect cake and improved my customer service skills. I got along well with my two bosses while working their and am forever grateful of everything they taught me. I usually worked alone and on the rare occasion would work with another employee. I got along well with my other employees and have made friends that will be my friends for life. The hardest part of the job was when we had a boss change and a lot of changes were made. i however adapted well to those changes and it improved the shops ratings. Overall it was a great second job and has taught me many things and has allowed me to develop new skills and gain new friends.

Good place to start out if it's your first job. Relaxing environment and general duties are simple. 

There was no interview, got a call to come in to 'train', then started working within 2 weeks.

I worked an ave. of 5 hrs a day, 3 days a week. Loved the girls I was around, they were a highlight for me to come to work.

There wasn't any set 15min or 30min lunch breaks, most employees would quickly eat then resume work.

Handling complaints and anything negative in general wasn't dealt with in a positive manner. It was a guilty before proven innocent environment. 

Didn't have training procedures in place - other employees would have to give you tips instead. But super easy to learn anyhow. 

It's the people around you that keeps you in this job.

A typical day at work includes making coffees, baking and decorating cakes and customer service. You will take orders, often large and for special occasions. Evenings and weekends are fast-paced and there are often man orders for holidays, so you may be expected to work longer hours. However, hours are usually allocated to family members first and your hours may be cut suddenly. Coworkers are always friendly and supportive and encourage you to learn new things. There are sometimes difficult customers, especially when their order is not made as they imagine it but there is usually a chance to fix it and make everybody happy. :)

If you like working extremely long hours like 12 hours without a lunch break, standing on concrete floors without any rubber mats, an average wage, being employed as a casual ONLY, no job security, no annual or sick leave and being treated like dirt from management then this is a perfect job for you.

A typical day at work includes setting up all showcases with fresh cakes as soon as I come in the morning, decorating different cheesecakes and tortes at the back and serving customers enthusiastically. 
It was an organised environment where senior employees baked and junior staff aided by boxing cakes and decorating them when it's time. Juniors like me also handled customer service and receptionist which is the most enjoyable part of the job. Interacting with customers brought satisfaction to employees. 
However, the most difficult part of the job would be around closing time

They did not even go through any sort of interview process. No contract or paperwork was given more me to sign and they did not even take any of my details. There was no form of organisation when it came to shifts I would be casually texted 5 minutes before saying I needed to come into work and would have to constantly ask for my pay as it was not given to me regularly and would be a different amount every time. Work is stressful and not explained your expected to just know what to do. Overall would not recommend working there, not sure if it was just my store but it was extremely disorganised.

We would make sure that everythinbg is neat, clean and presentable. We would also sell cakes to the customers. Getting to know the customers and speak to them was the highlight of my day. 

I really enjoy talking and communicating with others as I believe that each individual person is unique and the information that they give to you is also unique. 

I learned alot about responsibility, how to turn my weaknesses into strengths and that I have stron attention to detail and love working in environments that are positive and caring, for the Cheesecake Community have made me feel at home and in a positve environment.

During my last year of work I was doing the HSC so balancing work and school and my social life was very difficult for me. In a typical 4 hour shift, I would spend half of my time serving customers, and depending on the business of that day, I may have cooked and/or decorated cakes. If I wasn't making cakes that day, I would be cleaning and restocking the front of the shop. The hardest part of the job was working a Saturday alone. The shop would be at it's busiest in the morning until around 12pm and it was hard to serve so many customers alone.
