Working at The Star allowed me to see and understand a huge ray of cultures and activities that have made me more adaptable and flexible. 
    Just meeting anyone have been a challenge for me, that it pushes me to respond appropriately in an instant depending on who i have approached or whom have caught my attention. It ranges from my workmates to my manager, customers to high rollers/regulars, and to all of their nationality that i have to be aware of so I communicate to ensure that they are welcome and I'm approachable.
    Working at my station, I will need to pay attention to detail. From security to customers behaviour, it is a non stop task. I have to respond to their needs while maintain pace to my station to allow the companies product to be a success.
    The hardest part of my job would be collecting temporary information and making its full use to increase work pace because everyday it is not exactly the same. 
    The most enjoyable part of my job is whenever my customers are enjoying their day, at the end of the day, "time flies when your having fun". Whenever my customers can distract me from keeping track of time, it is very enjoyable.

The Star will be a great starting place to work as it introduces you to many aspects of the work force whether you work in retail or want to work in hospitality to working in an office corporate environment. 

The biggest challenge I feel is the shift work. I would like to say that shift work does take a toll if you can't create a routine around that style of work but seeing as I've been on both sides where you didnt have a routine vs when you do have it down to a routine. Whether or not you get that balance right will determine your length of stay at The Star.

Because there are many avenues to progress at The Star I'm going to confidently say that starting as a games dealer is your best bet if you're going to want to work in the office environment should you choose to go that way career wise. I would like to mention there are opportunities, although rare, to cross train into different departments giving you more access to extra career choices. 

The opportunities are there for those that are pro-active about it

I have worked at The Star and The Darling for around 1 year 7 months. We have such a great team and I had learned so much about cleaning with this role. I started this role without experience in cleaning and very committed to learn everything from the beginning. Most of the day I normally clean around 10 to 14 rooms including the suites and penthouse. Maintaining high standard of cleaning. I work well with the team and respect to each other and also work well autonomously. The hardest part of the job if I have so many room Queue room at the same time and it will be a bit rushing but other than that is all good. I got to meet up with so many celebrity and an honor to clean their room and not forget to mention that I enjoy my work very much.

I worked in the Surveillance Department. Remuneration was poor, especially for the amount of work completed by staff in the department and the responsibilities placed on us.

Certain Duty Managers, were abhorrent to work with. Incompetent managers up the top, made it especially hard to communicate when issues arose, and the HR officer assigned to oversee the Surveillance and Security teams was atrocious in her behaviour towards staff members.

The only good part about the position was working with the team/s you were placed in. Some teams were a lot better than others.

A team work enviroment,dealing with all kind of people from differient back ground.
Up dated gaming knowledge of rules and procedures,skills of solving customers complaint.
Strong management team throughout work place with clear goals in mind.
Team work spirits in you and your co-workers,strive to be motivated and cooperative at all times.
The hardest part of the job is being shift worker.04:00 o 'clock start work or finish.
The most enjoyable part of the work is you never be bored,as you will see and deal with new things everyday.

Was a great place to work and there was a lot of pride working there.  There are so many who would like to join the star.  Looks after staff well. 
I had a great time working for 11 years.  Training was extremely good and there was always a positive vibe.

This was a deliberately short term contract. The Star was working on Loyalty programs for their existing customers in order to compete with the Barangaroo complex. Each BA had a separate stream of work, and the methodology was waterfall.
An interesting project and highly commercial environment. It was very difficult to get the time needed from key stakeholders.

Events Centre is a paradise for people who are looking for extra engagement with staff and guests. You work for different events every roster so every day feels like the first day. My only complaints are the rosters are really inconsistent and the unsatisfactory pay rate. Other than that, great workplace environment and amazing team.

Good potential for work/life balance if you choose so. Jobs are very easy and pay is above the industry standard. There are a lot of potentials to pick up extra shifts to earn more money. 

Management is very poor. A lot of the operation procedures are outdated. Management culture is very critical and impersonal.

Learned managerial skills and how to plan in advance. Train a team learn how to manage different departments at the same time.  You would start your shift by catching up on emails and finishing projects while taking care of the department.
