Sumo Salad

A typical day at Sumo was I would make salads in the morning, refill at lunch time, make sure the fridge was full with drinks, serve every customer that came, remembered every regular and make sure their order was ready, closed up the shop and make sure money was counted and correct.

Working for Sumo I learned a lot what a real healthy salad was, having to work with customers and making a great friendship with them, dealing with money and banking, having responsibilities to open and close the shop.

Management in the place was amazing I love 2 of my boss they always looked after everyone made sure we all got looked after.

The hardest part of my job was having to go home.

The enjoyable part of my job was opening the shop, having amazing work mates and an awesome boss, serving and seeing all the customers you really get a long with and even meeting new people.

Most work days are busy which makes working productive. I have gained many skills at Sumo Salad including the ability to work with difficult customers and situations. I have also gained many skills working with and around food. The management is strict and make you work hard which has made my working skills improve out of sight. Most of my co-workers have been easy to work with and get along with making the job enjoyable. The hardest part of the job is when doing a job you have little amount of time so you're in a rush, staying calm and getting the job done is another skill I have learnt whilst being in this situation. The most enjoyable part of the job is learning new things and working in a fun environment.

in this particular workforce, it was very enjoyable and exciting to work 6 days a week with a helpful and friendly team. I personally as a worker, have become very close to the regular customers, remembering their daily orders and having conversations throughout their service. Sumo Salad is a very fast moving environment and can sometimes become stressful, so as an assistant manager i was to ensure all co-workers are coping under the pressure, also being responsible for sending them on lunch breaks, general maintanance in in order, and prep is being done for the rest and next day.

Management, co-workers and the job itself was great at Sumo Salad, I was so sad to leave but I was traveling. 

-A typical day at work would include prepping food, serving customers and cleaning the shop.
-I learned some pretty awesome salad recipes, that I now make at home.
-Management was incredible, so caring and great at training.
-Got along with all my SumoSalad girls, I made lifelong friends there.
-Hardest part of SumoSalad was mopping the floors, just couldn't get a hang of it at first!
-Most enjoyable thing for me working at SumoSalad was promoting the products and connecting with the customers. Overall just being proud of the company I was working for.

I would get up 2 hours before I have to go to work because I never wanted to be late. I would be at work 10 - 30 minutes early before it even opened up and before the managers. Then I would help open the shop and get everything ready before customers come. We always had a time set on when we should finish setting up the shop, that way we don't have to worry about doing so much during the day. There isn't really anything hard about this job but like any other job I would get use to it. What I really enjoyed would be when I get to learn how to do different things because I love learning new things and knowing how to do them myself.

While at Sumo Salad, located in the heart of the Brisbane City Myer Centre, I was involved in busy early morning opening shifts, fast paced lunch rush hours and closing shifts. My role included food serving and preparation, workplace hygiene and OHS practices, cleaning and general maintenance, excellent customer service and care and dish washing duties. I loved the challenge of a busy lunch rush and am alway looking to pursue a challenge in the workplace. I found it an overall very enjoyable and friendly work environment and I got on well with my bosses and co workers.

Mostly what I was working on in the morning was assisting to prepare salads, and dish washing when the food is being served on trays.

Lunch time is the most busy time as I have to face customers and serve salads as what the customer wants, and also the cash counting.

After the business time, we clear up the salads or save salads for next days and wash dishes (trays that used for salads).

Mostly there was a manager and me working in Sumo Salad (As it was small sized shop).

The hardest thing was just standing there without no specific things to do because it mostly occurs when there's no customers in the shop.

I am very sad that i do not work at this place any more. I made many new friends very quickly and gained a lo more experience with handling food. I was always amazed by the different amount of people who came in, there was such a mixture of people. My favorite part was meeting all the different type of people and some stories they told, it was funny and amusing. I really wanted to achieve customer satisfaction though, i always wanted to the customer to leave the store happier from when they first came in.

Management is some what okay, however very rude to employees for no reason when doing the right thing 
co-workers are easy to get along with, really nice and always work a team especially when needing help with a particular task
hardest part is juggling different tasks at once to get them completed
most enjoyable part of the job is being able to interact with customers and build friendships with co-workers
