I started with Stramit in November 2005 as Administration officer at the Bayswater Southern Region Head Office.
Managing Customer Discounts and Specials. Dealing with the Sales Team and Managers whom I found to be very professional and diligent.

Not limiting or restricting my duties to that of Administration officer. I took on additional duties to augment my knowledge of the processes and policies of Stramit building Products.

During my time with Stramit I assisted the PA in her day to day role along with Travel and Accommodation bookings, for all stakeholders both local and interstate.

I became a first Aid Officer level 2.
Assisted the OH&S manager, taking the minutes and publishing, maintaining monthly meeting updates and reminders.
And completed training as a Fire Warden.

I also volunteered my services to assist with reception as relief receptionist at Bayswater and the new site at Knoxfield, on the new package CISCO Call Manager Attendant Console.

As a Manufacturing Company in the building industry Stramit updated its computer system from Wang to Movex. To keep up with the demands within the market place.
I became proficient with both Manufacturing packages.

I entered Customer orders whilst acting Administration Officer. And Purchase Orders
when I applied for and achieved the position of Procurement Officer in June 2009.

Whilst employed in the Inventory Department we worked as a team, with the requirement to be able step in as required to perform the specific tasks of the individual roles.

My specific role within the Inventory department required creation and writing procedures.
For a job specific role Supplier "Delivery In Full On Time" DIFOT.

I attended a daily meeting after documenting and establishing with Suppliers, the logistics relating to "Order Initiated Purchase Orders".
After advising Sales and Customer Service staff of any changes.

I was also responsible for the purchasing of Dangerous Goods for all Southern Region Sites. Establishing and maintaining the MDS "Material data Safety Sheet"register.

Maintaining and monitoring contracts with suppliers whilst purchasing of all stationery, PPS "Protective Clothing" and equipment and Labels for all manufactured product.

I established a very rewarding working relationship with all suppliers and that of the Stramit Branches Customer Service Staff, that I assisted and resolved logistics problems for on a daily basis, for Order in Accessories and day to day purchasing.

6am start, walk in clock on walk over to flashing area say goodmorning to team, few jokes & lot of laughs. 
Check how busy the day was going to be by asking leading hand then basically its time to start work.
P.P.E on gloves glasses ect. Also checking oil levels on folder, then programming & operatering SWI folders & folder sheet metal into flashing off customers order detail sheets.
Programming & calculating girths also same thing with angles. Then flip sheet metal into folder after entering program & basically clamp the sheet metal with foot pedal then hitting a 2nd pedal in order to folder material.
Hardest part of this job was making flashing that would be 1200mm wide & 8 meters only cause some custom orders can be very difficult to make due to size & length.
Most enjoyable part is making these flashings cause it teaches you where & which particular flashing would go.

Nightshift come in at 8pm load trucks get matrial ready for the next day finish most days at 4am 
I learned team leading experience, computer skills, time management skills, working quick but safely as a team to get our work done.
My co worker were good to work with as mostly everyone got along which was great cause then we all worked together to achieve our goals per night.
Hardest part of the job would of been waiting for product to be made from afternoon shift which then caused us to be later in getting it on to the trucks by our deadline.
most enjoyable part was being able to meet our deadline each night so none of us had to stay back and work over time. 
Management were ok but because they were never on the floor with us working each night they sometimes expected to much of us.

A typical day at Stramit would be an early start, hit the ground running. Never a dull moment. Customer focus a must. Learnt a lot whilst working there. Management could've been a bit better towards staff. Team environment was very good, reason for staying so long in the job. Hardest part was not being able to get the customer's goods out in Full which was becoming frustrating. The most enjoyable part was when you could fulfill the customers needs going above & beyond & being appreciated by the customer.

Start 7.30, Complete banking into indivdual accounts, control the flow of purchases to these accounts, contact customer if monies required, and take nescessary action. Answer customer queries if possible or source the answer elsewhere. Raise credit notes, monthly charges to accounts etc. My co-worker was my immediate boss, we never argued in 11 years, we were comfortable with each other. The others in the office all got on well, a couple of spats which you would expect in a large office, but nothing serious. The hardest part of the job was to explain that we would not deal with the customer and their account was closed. I enjoy work, thats my enjoyable part. Finnish 3.30.

There is no job security in Stramit.  When hired the longest serving manager in the room was in the company 4 months.  Redundancies are the normal in the company.  Watched HR made.redybdant in first 3 months, 3 General Managers in 2 years and multiple other senior managers. The fair call system is abused by employees and no matter how well you review at your monthly reviews don't expect a reward of good pay increases.  So many people I worked with there are all gone on to other places.  With 8 site managers not one of them there within 24 months of leaving.  Share buys are not worth it either.

Stramit is a good place to work but I have been there for 13 years and would like to learn some new skills in another sector. I manage 30 staff on a daily basis and 20 contractors as required. The best part of my job is the people I work with and the hardest part of my job is keeping up with the staff turnover on our site. There have been multiple management changes in the past 3 months and while things are starting to move forward again, we still have along way to go to us back on track.

A typical day included warehousing, forklift & overhead crane work, pick and packing customer orders, loading trucks in accordance with oh&s guidelines, using "movex" program, managing a small staff, liasing with other branches and outside transport companys.
Co workers were all younger and that contributes to the youthful feel of the workplace.
Management were easy to get along with.
Best part of the job is the challenge
Hardest part of the job is the permanent night shift
Stramit has taught me patience.

Stramit has been an excellent place to work.  We have worked as a team, with individual responsibilities, that work towards timely and accurate payment to vendors.  i have developed good relationships with other staff and with companies we deal with.  The most enjoyable part of the job is the satisfaction of knowing that it has been done well, and that our customers and our management are satisfied.

A standard day included taking inbound calls from customers dealing with product enquiries, pricing, availability, warranties, quotations and orders.
Co-ordinating the entry of orders into an in house system which have been received via phone, fax and e-mail.
Resolving customer complaints / credit claims.
Great fast paced environment, unfortunately long hours and way too much unpaid overtime.
