Story House Early Learning

Called to come in when they get positive covid results in centre. Theydont tell the casual about it. Was told I would be put on part time in certain area. Then after 4 weeks casual work they finally give out positions for the year and kept me as casual. No shifts offered to me i have been overlooked as a worker and pushed out. They rehired 4 old staff as they clearly needed workers yet didnt offer me any work. And still trying to hire staff. Centre is full of lazy employees who have no respect for managing staff. Not recommended to work here at all. Kids are great. Staff are not. No respect from management. Not treated as part of a team at all.Not enough work for casuals.
They employ you on basis of full/part time then they use you as a casual when they need you. They dont ask if your available or not they just randomly give you shifts. You say your not available and they still roster you on.
Theres not much interaction between office and staff.
Of all staff, most here are not the nicest to work with. The ones that are nice were all pushed out by the rude staff and have left to work elsewhere.

I have found overall my experience to be positive. There have been challenges and I have recieved varying levels of support throughout them. The expectation to keep wage costs low is overwhelming and leads to you losing lots of your time to making sure your team gets breaks, programming, and cleaning. Leaving me to do unpaid overtime every week to stay afloat. I would love to give the team more time for programming but find this is often pressured to be reduced to maximise the bottom line. I have had supportive managers but find it peters out as you go up and their opportunities to support are limited by these cost saving pressures. My role would be easier to do if I could guarantee my support staff could actually get time off the floor to do their job. There are many benefits to the company, the EAP is comprehensive, they are supportive of flexibility, they have discounts and reward systems that are really well thought out, there are many skilled and experienced people to reach out to for support across many areas. I just want more time to do the role to my best ability. 

A typical day at work involves working closely with a great team, managing tasks, and keeping everything on track. I’ve learned a lot about time management and problem-solving. Management is always approachable and gives helpful feedback. The workplace culture is supportive, and there’s a strong sense of teamwork. The hardest part of the job is juggling multiple tasks, especially when things get busy. The most enjoyable part is finishing a task and knowing I’ve contributed to something positive.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Amazing and supportive team.
Service manager is really amazing to support me if I got struck somewhere. 
Room leader and team members will guide me throughout the process of my learning and gain practical experience.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Need sometime to understand if kids got cranky or to organise and handle in calm way. Team will support me very well.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Happy place ever in my life. Professional approach towards the work. Supportive team. Flexibility and give enough space to learn and adapt the work environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Productive and learning every single day of my work.

To get the best outcomes for children, the company is continually evolving its systems and processes so that its people can work efficiently and effectively with access to amazing resources and professional learning opportunities. In a typical work day, I could be arranging travel, designing a poster, writing a post for social media, formatting board papers or organising training for staff. Sometimes, I need more hours in the day, but I enjoy being in a role that supports our leadership team and the overall vision of being the best childcare provider in Australia.  

Working at Story House has been a rewarding experience. A typical day involves a variety of creative and internal communication tasks, which keeps the role dynamic. I’ve learned a lot about employer branding, cross-department collaboration, and adapting content for different platforms. Management is supportive and approachable, and the workplace culture is inclusive and people-focused. The hardest part can be navigating role expectations in a hybrid position, but the team is always willing to help. The most enjoyable part is feeling trusted to lead projects that truly make an impact.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The children and families are my favourite part of working for this company. The support and greetings as well as collaborative work with parents was so rewarding, creating bonds with families and children that will continue outside of work

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sadly there is no room for support whether it's personal or professional. Higher ups will only speak to you when they want to put pressure on you because someone higher or Department is coming as well as making sure you always feel like it's your fault.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amoung the workers you have your gossip group but most co workers are a delight to work with.

I have been working at Story House Early Learning and it has been a supportive and professional environment. The leadership team encourages continuous learning and growth, which has helped me strengthen my skills as an educator and while completing my training. The workplace culture is collaborative, and there is a strong focus on quality care and compliance. Overall, it’s a positive place to grow in the early childhood sector.

Since coming on board to Story house early learning as a lead educator I have been given so many opportunities to thrive and progress within my career. The management team are all so supportive and have really worked hard to create an amazing team dynamic and fun work culture! My two children also attend the service and the progress they have made since starting has been incredible! 

Working at Story House Early Learning is wonderful! The company is focused on supporting families and delivering excellent learning outcomes for children. The Support office team is a dynamic, passionate and collaborative team of professionals who support our services in delivering outcomes for children. In my time here I have felt supported and nurtured to be able to progress my career and look forward to being apart of the team as we grow and innovate into the future.
