There is so much room for improvement. Management needs to do the right thing and not reward bad behaviour. The pay is low and I believe that I have wasted my life working for a non cohesive team. I know that there are teams with great dynamics but I must be the unfortunate one. I do like the hybrid option but that's about it. There are sub groups within the team and it makes it hard to work as a team. There is disrespect, talking behind peoples back and sabotaging happening but no one is able to say anything so as to not be labelled as the 'Odd one'. It really is a pity that some still bring in such childish behaviours. 

Working at Southern Cross Plant Science, allowed me to develop new transferrable skills that has assisted me in my future employment here in Brisbane.

The workplace was busy, educational, had a fun working atmosphere and was exciting learning new skill sets that were transferrable to other laboratory positions which have assisted me with other laboratory jobs after I left working there. 

I worked there for three decades as a tenured staff member with a mostly positive work experience overall. I left in 2013 and cannot speak with any informed authority concerning the current  employment conditions or workplace environment since such things can change quite dramatically with organisational restructuring and shifts in management and hierarchy, all of which were occurring at the time of my leaving and have occurred since I left.

Many people of great knowledge, expertise and experience are being edged out slowly. Its good to have new people and refreshed workforce but if there is no transfer or knowledge and experience, there will be a slow segregation of new and senior staff and eventually more internal 'wars'.

Dictatorial management was stifling for creativity and productivity. Rogue managers allowed to treat staff unfairly which was then supported by HR. They quote integrity and collegiality as core values but they certainly don't  practice them. Glad to be out of there.

I enjoyed my time there doing a study tour. We weren't allowed to let participants out of our sight, but the autonomy of adult Chinese students was a bit tricky. I would love to work there again when the Chinese students come back to Gold Coast again hopefully sometime in the future. 

Management have no idea what the real workers do.  Only giving 6 month contracts with no full time positions.  I had to fight and go to HR to get my one year ongoing pay rise which was an extra $1 hour.
Rude and entitled staff who think they are above policies and procedures.

Generally friendly and collaborative. Staff appreciative of efforts to assist them.Great challenge.
Day to day purchasing activities - mainly checking orders raised by different sections of the University and contract establishments for more costly procurement.

Great structure, hours of operation. Good learning curve into a office environment. Great pay, but unstable with contract. Enjoyed  face to face with clients and learning new administrative skills.
