Southern Cross Protection

While I worked there four (4) managers had signed on and left quite soon after.  I worked for Southern Cross Protection, but my contract was with another company who hires out people.  The pay was not always on time which made Direct Debits from the bank hard and the bank charged for not having the money in the bank. The first company paying me went bankrupt and we all lost weeks of pay and still nobody is prepared to do the right thing, including Southern Cross.  I had my pay cut on a regular basis because if I was told to stay at a bank etc, until the company security arrived, it usually meant that I would be late for my next scheduled patrol and if I was delayed an hour, I had my pay deducted an hour.  Over a period of a fortnight, that really adds up.  I had to go into hospital for surgery, so I took the opportunity to resign at that time.  I was one of the longest serving at the company. many people left because of the policies and the way the employees were treated.  I did explain my feelings to the new young inexperienced manager when I was leaving, but I'm sure she didn't really see the points I was trying to make.

Please don't do it to yourself. 
Terrible pay, no penalty rates, condescending managers, office and call centre staff.
No training, no safety, higher ups do the bare minimum to cover their behinds
They expect top quality service when they hire the dreggs of the industry.
Like long hours? Hope so, your replacements never going to turn up.
Unless it's a new contract the site you work at won't have any respect for you because they've already had to experience the usual quality of guard Southern Cross Protection hire.
Will change your work site constantly with no regard for your travel time or distance. 

The job of mobile patrol officer is great, that's why I was there for over 5 years.
I learnt not to trust management promises of a permanent position, as they became available. It never happened for any contractor or casual in the time I was with the company.
Management consisted of bullying and manipulation by lie's to get the result they desired, in my opinion.
Workplace culture was like a male locker room, with online training designed to put responsibility for mistakes fully on patrol officers, in my opinion.
Dealing with certain management staff as above.
The best part was the senior patrol officers, they stood up for us to management, until they were forced out.

Management is the MOST important part of communication with there employees.
I have found this company to be fair.
I’m very happy to be part of this company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As a casual employee you must be very switch on as you are not always advised by what team you are place in and that can be stressful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Professional at all times while being on duty.

Probably the worst company ever. They will always keep you with a subcontractor. No permanent job security. They make you work on public holidays and weekends only with NO penalty rates. The company only looks after their own employees. If they are not satisfied with your work you will be replaced. Moreover there is no career progression as you are with a subcontractor and they keep you at where you started.

I loved working for sxp. The upper managment were always understanding and caring. They are an industry leader and always developing new ways to help there customers. The only real negitive, was the merger with an international company. They were not very transperent regarding the merger, and how safe current employees were in there jobs

too much travelling to and from work after work 12 hour shifts.
overall was a great job allowing to move forward,  but nothing permit.
Supervisor and management are very open and looks after the employee,  I wish there position was closer to home and more permit ,  It was never going to be a permit position,  while you could have holidays and sick days you don't get paid for them.  I need more security

The company was great through the enrolment process but after that had been done they where not very nice at all. No communication. Forced you to work when you was supposed to spend time with family. No care for your health or safety and they say there number 1 priority is Safety. Biggest lie ever!

Would only hire you as a sub contractor And was put in supervises role but unlike permanent staff was never paid any extra for being a supervisor no real progression to be hired by the company so you are destined to be always a sub contractor

No time and the situation wasn't available for members to interact.  Most members worked alone on site or in a car.

Most of my shifts were at night time so there was little chance to see and talk to other members other than over a radio or the phone.
