Skilled Engineering

I was a recruitment officer for process workers, labourers, skilled forklift, truck and semi drivers and building construction tradesmen.
I would get a call from a client requesting staff for a variety of tasks and time lengths.  I would then contact any employee from my database that fit the description and offer the position.  If accepted, he/she would be offered to the company and paperwork. tool time training and job description work be signed off.  I was then responsible to ensure the employee performed as expected and visit the client if there were any issues.  It was my duty to lodge the employees hours and wages.  I was on 24 hour call, 7 days a week, which was the hardest part of the job.
Each day I had to lodge job advertisements in the main newspapers and take control of the telephone screening, interviewing and referencing.
The best part of the job was placing somebody in paid employment.  I was a very gratifying part of the position.

I worked for Skilled engineering as a contractor. My main tasks for Skilled was mine site shutdowns and maintenance. Since this was the second engineering company I worked for, I learnt a lot. It was excellent to work with other tradesmen, see how the mining industry worked, an also work with a number of different practices and procedures. However like any job, it had its ups and downs. There where very long days, sometimes up 16 hours. Being in Australia, very hot and dusty environments. I also did a lot of confined space work. Excellent rate of pay, all the tradesman where really good to work with and learn from, benefits such as paid lunch breaks, paid travel and a paid for cafeteria on most sites. All in all, Skilled Engineering where a fantastic company to work for, they looked after me and I worked hard for them. I would have no issues with returning to employment with Skilled when I one day return to Australia.

-	Data Entry- Updating information and adding new clients into the computer database transferring from a paper application form.
-	Filing documents and applications into folders that are held in the archives or a cupboard  
-	Sorting stationary to make sure everything is up to date and nothing is missing.
-	Scanning documents.
-	Shredding – understanding importance of shredding documents to protect privacy and security, and disposing accordingly.

I was a cable jointer with the phone industry.The hardest part of the job was finding the faults and connecting the right wires together.I got help with this all the time.It was hard to go high up on a ladder to check the wires telegraph poles.It was a real challenge especially on your own.The pits were not so bad to deal with but you need guidance to repair them.A few of the workers were also very biased about their opinions of things.

Typical day is wait, paperwork get in & do the job- learning lots through a variety of job sites & work.
Management is generally good but could be a little more realistic & flexible at times.
Its great working with mostly different people who are mostly good co-workers to work with.
Hardest part of job is the uncertainty of regular work. 
Most enjoyable part is the varied work sites & work.

I had no problem with any of the Skilled management in the five years I worked for them. Thanks to Skilled my wages went up while working at Lincoln Electric as they could not get people to work at the Lincoln site at the rate Lincoln had been paying

early starts regular breaks and the ability to call out safety issues ,great supply of safety gear and clothing constant feedback are part of the deal 
Communication is the key as you can always ask someone else from Skilled

Very busy, learnt lots as a maintenance fitter, met lots of new people at different places, hardest part of the job is doing 12hr night shift but the best part was 4 on 4 off enjoyed work in a team environment management all the same sum good sum not to good

Like most labour hire companies, Skilled is a place you can increase your knowledge as a tradesman. I got to spend seven months in an industry manufacturing bricks and pavers.
Having spent a great deal of time in a different type of industry, it was good to learn something different.

Very good place to work, friendly staff and management. more than fair pay.clean respectable business.I was only 17 when I worked there and id happily go back there now. Great place. And they train you well there.overall a great place to work.would be more than happy to stay there long term.
