I started my career as an electrical apprentice through skill hire. I was put with 6 seperate host employers, 4 of which were all in the space of 3 months as I was used as a fill in/cheap labour, at no fault of my own. If you’re a good worker you might be lucky enough to stay with a company for your whole apprenticeship, otherwise you’ll be thrown between companies. Management is full of know it all women who, with any chance they get, query your pay if you make any more than the bare minimum they pay you. Due to their stupidity, I found out they had been underpaying me, getting the money back turned out to be more a mission than it was worth. Would only recommend doing an apprenticeship through these guys as a very last resort. 
Best part about working for skill hire was the day I got my trade certificate and left!

Working at Skill Hire was really stressful but the change in Management in Bunbury has created a positive environment that you enjoy coming in to. 
The manager helps out and doesn’t think she is to good to jump in and lend a hand. I’ve been provided opportunities to step up in to new and exciting roles and I enjoy growing with this company. The new CEO brought along a whole new management team and skill hire is now an great place to work. 
The deadlines are strict but working under a great manager makes them easier to deal with. Thank you skill hire for finally putting real people in management positions 

Enjoyed working with Aboriginal Remote Community Members on the introduction of RJCP.
Engaging with Aboriginal people in community activities such as community maintenance, camel yard fabrication and many more. The hardest part of my job was trying to engage with every single client that was receiving Centrelink payments as they were not use to having to participate in anything to receive their payments. They were use to Centrelink payments as sit down money. 
The most enjoyable part of the day was having a laugh with the participants and learning more about aboriginal culture.

A typical day involved residential housing. Installing windows and doors, face work and internals. ended up learning a all aspects of the bricklaying trade and some of several other trades.Managment was hard. Co workers were usually a lot of fun. The hardest part of the job is labouring and the beat part is home time.

Huge lack in support, communication and appreciation in the company from managers. Lots of politics. The company went into administration and then there was a large number of resignations. You aren’t paid for the work you do and there is no structure and limited training but high expectations. 

The worst employers of my career. New management is horrible and heartless as well as the Consultants at the Bunbury and Busselton Branch. The Head Officer in Forrestfield have no clue what goes out of their office. No action to complaints or questions. 

The most enjoyable part of that job was leaving. 

Staff are not looked after by there management team. Rbr expectations of the clients are ridiculous and the expectation of staff and deadlines make it hard for a work life balance. 

If you are looking for work and have skills they certainly have work available. And only accept work you can do. Great for work-life balance. And when you find work they can just be told and put sending you to work on hold Or accept jobs in and around your new job for extra money.

During my time working at Skill Hire, I was put in numerous different fields for short to long periods of time dependant on the job and job size, it was very rewarding as I got to adequately get a taste in almost every field in my trade.

it was great working with them did have a few issues regarding pay but other than that it was good. i had a very good boss always understanding with my situations. the weather was terrible to work in.
