Poorly treated. 
Have never seen such high turnover of staff. Store saw a new 2ic or manager every 3-4 months and left casuals to run the store and have poor work life balance working 30+ hours a week 
Burned myself out and never recognised for the amount of work I put in each day when no managers were present in store leaving me to run the day more often than not. 
All issues were with upper management. Had team members for years but once staff changed, people were dropping like flies. 
Will always find a way to make you at fault for things and will have to go out of your way to prove yourself right. 
Constantly buying new shoes to wear as some shoes only last 6 months and then not allowed to wear them on shop floor. 
Often came home stressed and crying with bad mental state as a casual team member feeling I had too much responsibility to keep the store running but never allowed codes or to do any manager functions and often flagged for it. 
Not to mention the amount of pressure on staff member to sell socks and add ons, having personal upt meant that it was always cut throat with getting shifts based on your performance. 

Place made me feel trapped. Job is good for 6m-1y until cracks start showing and casuals are exposed to management that shouldn’t have anything to do with them in store. 

Staff discounts were ok but not good enough to keep me as a team member -  couldn’t even claim it on tax. 

The  expectations set on you to meet targets, standards and deadlines are ridiculous. Upper management dont care about team memebers well-being, seems like the normal thing throughout Accent Group. 

As a store manager, you are expected to meet ridiculous targets and standards. Your area manager will Micro Manage you and change your roster without talking to you as the store manager first, leaving your team confused as to why shifts are constantly being changed and cut. 

Upper management like sending childish emails with giphys and inspirational quotes, but when shiz hits the fan they are no where to be seen. Yet they preach that they're their to help when you need it. 

Also, be prepared to get interigated if your store did not meet yesterdays target in the morning phone call you will have every single day from your area manager. 

Pay isn't great, you'd get paid the same being a full timer at other companies. 

Also, be prepared for unnanounced store visits from your state manager or area manager or national manager so they can "catch you out" and will question every thing you do, and make you question your own capabilities. So as a store manager, you texhnically have no freedom to run your own store. 

Accent group/Skechers have a very high staff turn over, its sad because for a company at this size you think they would be a lot better. Also they will send you deadlines to meet in ridiculous timeframes with your budget on hours being extremely tight. 

If you take a job offer here, goodluck to yourself. 

Typical day: serving customers, fetching shoes, cash handling, stock management and rotation, facing and cleaning, selling add-ons
what I learned: general sales and customer service skills, some minor operational tasks such as ordering
Management: Store management varied from amazing to mediocre. The good managers made the environment fun and positive and were a little more chilled out. The bad ones (climbing the ladder) could be unrealistic and micromanage. Upper management mostly fit the stereotype; pushy, unrealistic and treat you like a number, but thankfully you don't see them too often.
Workplace culture: Generally pretty good, most people working there a patient, inclusive, professional and positive.
Hardest part: For me it was the pushy sales tactics you are expected to do. Also holiday periods it gets very busy and the shop is understaffed.
Most enjoyable: The friends I made there, also it's nice to genuinely help customers.

The main issues working here was that of poor management, a lackluster and often toxic team vibe and a slow paced working environment

I can honestly say that communication with upper management was poor and often took, at minimum, 1 month to sort out any issues with the job. There was a constant pressure from management to reach unrealistic standards within the job, often having to lie to customers regarding the benefits of certain aspects of the company in order to achieve such standards (so as to maintain some amount of job security).

Workplace culture, at this store particularly, was toxic and ill maintained. Starting the job there was little training and rather you are thrown in the deep end and expected to swim. Any failure in doing so usually results in team members talking behind your back resulting in an untrusting and awkward work environment. 

Do not expect much job security as shifts are determined by your personality and your ability to get along with management rather than your actual ability to perform and produce results.

Honestly the only redeeming quality of working here was the generous discount at hype, platypus and other brand names

The management was really bad. They stopped giving me shifts because apparently I did something to make the area manager angry I have no idea what I did because I haven’t worked for a month due to academic commitments and the managers already knew. I only see this area manager once a month. I talked to the store manager and told them what was the matter with my shifts because they kept ignoring my texts or gave answers that did not make sense. They never gave me any direct answer. The area manager did not even talk to me about what I have done leaving me confused and the store manager kept telling me that they have hired new employees so they won’t be giving shifts to anyone that is not available which makes sense but I told them that I was on uni break and my availability was there for seven days a week. Other than that I have made good friends in the company and the work environment was great with the right people. Can get really busy on the weekends. The management was just really messy and bad. Right after the area manager stopped approving my shifts they left the company never talked to me as a manager should about what I can do to improve or directly tell me about the matter. 

The management is absolutely terrible. There's no clear instructions or any form of support coming from higher ups, you're just required to know and learn things on your own. Theres also alot of gossip that goes round this company.

Shifts and hours given are based NOT on performance, but favouritism and how much the manager likes you (read other reviews). Myself and many other casuals have experienced this form of management and its awful. Their way of "sacking" you is by slowly cutting down your hours to 3-6 a week, forcing you to quit on your own. 

As a staff you are also expected to buy work shoes at 40% off which comes down to around $70, and you're required to buy new ones every 2-3 months because of how quickly they get rid of stock. Once your store sends out the shoes that you wear for work, you basically can't wear them anymore and have to get new ones. 

All in all, the company experiences a very high turnover rate of staff and poor management so there's pretty much no job security.

Honestly don’t bother working here. I was a 2IC that jumped up to manager in a few weeks- manager was fired due to inappropriate conduct (so that obviously shows they can’t hire well). Then instead of having an area manager that commended when you did well, she would criticise you. 
I was expected to ring the store on my days off to see how they were going- even though I would get hourly updates via email. 
I was rung 3 times in a row on my day off and was told it was an emergency by my AM, to be asked “what’s your current address”. 
They have their priorities all wrong and think they can walk all over the store managers and 2IC’s. 4 managers and 2 full timers quit in the matter of 3 weeks due to the same area manager. They honestly treat you like a piece of dirt. 
The discounts are good, but honestly not good enough to keep you there. 
They do not care, don’t fall for the trap of the ‘culture. They. Don’t. Care.

Being a Full Time Sales Assistant, you have to make $10k plus per week all by yourself. You have to sell a particular amount of sock packs and shoe care kits. If you do not live upto that expectation, they take you out of the store for "talks" so they can manipulate you for you to change your position from being a full time contract, to casual.
They want you to lie to the customers when mentioning about signing up to the emailing list by saying membership. But the customers will get you by asking, what are the benefits. If you only say emails, they will reject you.
They will put me in different stores after the first lockdown and I enjoyed learning about upper management but the regional will say that "you don't have the spark and the fire" to become one or, you can't sell enough VAPs. There is more to this but it won't let me fit alot of it. Let's just say, your mentality, will definitely be tested.

Don't bother. The amount of managers that have left the company in the last 6 months is a joke. Yes companies have turnover but wow this is next level

Sales are a joke to prep for because they're so unorganised
Culture is toxic
They promise everything and then deliver on NOTHING

They wouldn't give us a fridge or microwave
There is no running water in any store
I worked a 9 hour day with a 3 hour cover & worked 4 to 5 hours on my own at times. Which is a very normal thing in this company (and I'm sure others too)
Heaven forbid we close the store for 5 minutes to go to the bathroom as well
It's all about image rather than our welfare 

Everyone I worked with complained constantly 

I had a pretty poor experience working for Skechers. They force you to wear their shoes for the uniform but do not provide them, and expect you to buy them. Their budget expectations are absolutely ridiculous and they will call and berate you if you do not meet them. Example, sometimes our budget would only be $500 more than the previous year and sometimes for seemingly no reason it would be $2000 more. The upper management says “let us know if you need help reaching the goals” but when you ask for help they do absolutely nothing. They have very unreasonable expectations for time frames as well, such as finishing a transfer with 600-800 pairs of shoes in 2 days, while also receiving stock, and the hours budget is so poor you’ll probably only have 2 people on, maybe 3 if you’re lucky
