company changed a lot over the years i worked there... thorough product knowledge training helped build sales knowledge and skills, slow paced store most of the time and picks up around xmas season, enjoyable if you don't mind making beds/setting up the store/moving stock/undoing stock/some big and/or heavy items. the job will be easier if you know the product inside and out. customers pretty friendly if you know what you are talking about which made the sales enjoyable and rewarding. lots of downtime. generous discount across brands.

despite years of loyalty to the company i was told i would not be rostered on any shifts again unless i worked any shifts rostered (despite over a months notice request of time off) just because they were low on casuals. head office team are up themselves and act above casual staff, lack of mutual respect, lots of cattiness between them. incentives over time were frequent to none. high turn over of casual and management staff. terrible and sabotaging staff when doubling at the david jones/myer concession sections.

Over time my role got very repetitive and tedious. Week in, week out was a carbon copy, right down to the time of day you would do things. There was no interest by the company in training programs or to get inspired at seminars or industry related events. The glass ceiling also made any career advancement difficult, once you enter at one level there is very little opportunity to grow or diversify your role. Additionally, my studio manager had it in for me and did everything in the HR book to get rid of me. Even down to holding me up on something I wrote on a leaving card. When I joined I had no handover for my role and expectations as my manager was starting maternity leave and just didn't care.  

Start the day with a 10min chat on a plan & discuss budgets,targets & setting a fun competition for the day.  Meeting & greeting of customers.
Making the workplace fun & exciting & working closely as a team
 & end of day going home feeling totally satisfied with what has been achieved.  What I have learned is never assume,respect, & being honest.  The hardest part of Job(challenging) sometimes not reaching sales targets ( disappointing for me) & huge amounts of stock to
check off & putting away with mid season & Christmas clearance.

Working with my retail team is alright, but I could definitely tell that there is a segregation between the higher-ups and us retail workers. As someone leaning towards the younger population, I could definitely feel isolated within the company, as apart from my current manager whose great, there is a gap between me and everyone else. And I could tell that they don't really take what we say into consideration most of the time. It gets frustrating.

Worked here for about a year and I have to say that this company doesn't care about their employees only about the numbers. They expect you to be 100% fake when serving customers and want you to become an actual scripted robot. You stand around bored out of your mind and contemplate why the f*ck you are even there at all (it's very unfufilling, you're disposable)  wouldn't not recommend if you like your sanity and you are authentix

Loved this job, just short of 18 years service, I was the manager of my department. All Managers & staff were great it was a very large company.
There was nothing hard with this job, I had been there that long I knew the job inside out. I loved the early 6am starts to get all the reports printed for the management meetings every mornings then get on with job and the 3pm finishes

I started as m/c operator and went thru leader-hand, supervisor and manager position.
Had a chance to ge chance to learn textile thru courses and then paid for to study for Textile Diploma.
Like the culture and independence of working force, able to provide daily duties with no or minimum supervision.

Since starting with Sheridan I have learned a great deal about this iconic brand. Senior management are very supportive and try to give their retail staff all of the tools they need to succeed.

That said, if your store manager is unsupportive and difficult, your work life will be depressing. But that can be said for any job.

Really enjoy working at sheridan we  are a great team and all ge on well and help each other out when needed.
Hrs are good starting at different times and working at different stores.
Only casual would like to be permanent.
