An average day would consist of a Handover & review from the outgoing shifts events,targets,test results,incidents,plant upsets and throughputs, planned or completed maintenance activities. Then a personal walk around the whole site that was under my control looking at all Process Plants, Utilities operations & requirements as well as environmental factors such as Interceptors,CWT,Bio-treater outfall. Then off to the daily stakeholders meeting to answer queries from Management,Technologists,Maintenance,Fire & Safety & to receive Requests from Scheduling regarding products & throughputs.  After this meeting I would have a shift meeting with the ten or so operators under my control to relay any instructions or answer any queries they might have regarding their respective plants or maintenance activities for the shift. After this meeting I would review the plant operations with the DCS Panel operators and then move to the office to review shift requirements such as rosters,manning shortfalls,training requirements, review Procedures and check E-mails. Update anyone who is after information on any activity that is in progress in the area that is under my jurisdiction or control

A typical day was varied and interesting. I had to know everything about the contractual obligations, fuel supply, allocations during shortages, good communication both internally and externally with customers. I learnt how important attention to detail, quick and decisive decision making, hard work and having a well organised work style. I had to manage a team of multi tasked functions and work closely with these departments to get the best results. I liked working with my colleagues in a supportive, respectful team environment. I also made hard decisions which sometimes were not the easiest or quickest solutions but had the best financial outcomes for both parties
The hardest part of the job was where issues came up which were out of your control but required an adjustment in commitment and working through the best solution in the circumstances.
The most enjoyable part of the job was exceeding goals and working in a positive and rewarding environment for both our Company and the customer's

A typical day was either opening up or closing up, counting till at start of shift, taking stock of fuel oil and merchandise in store, as well as serving of customers. 
 What I learned was how to keep stock and how to rotate stock, Also to maintain a cool and calm attitude in situations of abusive customers. 
 Management was great with a helping and listening motto.
 My co-workers had the same purpose as each other to do our job right fill everything up for the next co-worker coming on to start their shift and keep things clean and tidy.
 The hardest part of the job would have to be the phone call i would often receive from co-workers asking begging me to stay on and work right threw till close because they were drinking Hence sticking me with double shifts back to back.
 The most enjoyable part of the job was the customers i'd meet and the usual's who would come for a yarn, Oh and of cause the extra money from double shifting at least minimum twice a week.

In this busy environment i had to learn how to manage in a timely manner all the overload of duties and ensure they were appropriately done.
At that very moment i was the only one in charge to refill merchandise, receive deliveries, learn about products and the main focus was to ensure the products were according to consumers expectations.
Always keeping records on sales to compare and identify exclusively what type of products customers were happy to find in the store.
As a Manager i had good team work environment which they were very friendly, they very well managed their duties and their overall customer service.
The most hardest part of the job was that i would work seven days a week plus additional hours on weekends to refill and help out cashiers with anything that required my assistance  to carry out other duties.
The most enjoyable part was making orders for the stores, having to communicate with sales persons to work out deals and advertise new products for the store.

A work day consisted of Customer Service along with stock filling and cleaning duties. All work activities are determined by priority and self organisation skills. Also awareness of site safety at all times in shop and customers on forecourt. All important information and site issues are reported to Site Manager.
Management was available, at different levels, from site manager and area manager and up, for all or any enquiries. 
Fellow co-workers, like any persons, are a mixture of personalities. But if any assistance in procedures or enquiries on work duties, any experienced team member is willing to assist.
Sometimes the long hours on your feet can be hard, particularly after a busy day. 
I enjoyed the diversity of customer interaction and freedom to apply creativity and advice on store issues, such as, product displays and location in-store.

Good company to work for. High standards of safety of all personnel.

A little bound up in beaurocracy. I.T Systems not user friendly.
Took 25 minutes to log on each morning. You needed 8 or nine passwords to use most programs required for work.
Had to attend residential staff meetings several times a year. Away from home for a week.
I was part time and was meant to take time in lieu but never could.


Not your typical retail experience, especially if you are working on a site in a bad area, you will see all walks of life taking this job especially if you are working at night, but that's what i enjoy about it. a lot to take on when you first start but it becomes like clockwork when you are used to everything. bad things is that you have no breaks when working alone so 8 hours no break takes some strain on your legs, and for some of the stuff that you have to put up with and see, we deserve a little more pay.

Hardest part-Graveyard shift [got heldup twice-armed robbery] which made me stronger at heart and more devouted after seeing the kind and straight forward & professional nature of the management.
Best part was dealing with the variety of customers.

Attending Project meetings. Progressing the project model.
Updating and maintaining pipe specs in CAD software.
Provide CAD / 3D Modelling support to designers.
Preparing for model reviews.
Site trips to check on dimensions and as built plants.
Preparing models for isometric generation.
Hardest part of the job is finding time to update pipe specifications, while trying to meet project deadlines.
I enjoy almost all facets of the design procedures.
