Pros:

I started here last year, already having worked another retail job for a year and in my first year of uni. Thought it would be a great company to work for and enjoyed my first few shifts. After about my month they didn’t give me any more shifts consistently, now it’s been like 2-3 months and feels like I’ve been phased out of this company. There is definitely favouritism as the same girls keep getting shifts and there are multiple that don’t get any. Way too many staff and not enough hours or shifts to be evenly distributed. The manager also clearly favourites some staff over others without any valid reason. Hard work doesn’t get you very far in this job they will form opinions of you before you’ve even proved yourself to the company. Being someone who is younger I was treated like I didn’t know anything or that I was dumb, it felt horrible as I hadn’t even been trained properly and was expected to know everything. The manager asked me if I had ever even worked in retail before as if I had no experience. Some of the girls are nice though but the culture give off competitive mean girl vibes. They expect way too much for a minimum wage paying job. I now work two other jobs which have a better hours, consistent shifts and a lovely work culture that isn’t fake so I am doing fine but I feel bad for the girls who may only have this as a job.  You definitely cannot support yourself working here, please avoid it at all costs or you will be miserable!

I was immediately contacted for an interview and had excellent training at the their head office, all of upper management was super organised and I have never been more excited to start work.  After this great first impression I was only given 2 three hour shifts after making it clear I have full availability. Weeks go by and I am given no more shifts. I now consider myself unemployed again and have started looking for jobs. For my store it looked like only a small amount of people would get shifts regularly whereas majority miss out. Not sure why they hired so many new staff members when some of the previous staff were not getting regular shifts anyway.

My heart goes out to any other staff member who is experiencing the same as me. To anyone who is considering Sheike, please give yourself other job options and don't make this your main job when it is still casual. I'm not sure if its favouritism or just a lack of need for staff, I was so excited to work during those 2 days I wish I could write a different review because I loved their clothes.

I wish I had read the reviews before working with this company! I was a stylist assistant (sales assistant), and after just a month, my shifts started getting drastically reduced or completely cut without any communication. Even if I had a scheduled shift the next day, it would often be canceled for no reason.

I was told that it was based on performance, which was confusing and frustrating because my manager frequently praised my work. Yet, I was given little to no shifts. It felt like you weren’t working as part of a team but rather competing against each other. Managers would even get upset if you “took” their customers, which made it feel like they were prioritizing their own performance over supporting the team.

There was also clear favoritism from both the store manager and area manager when it came to deciding who got shifts. They claimed it was based on performance, but that didn’t seem to be the truth. The environment became incredibly stressful.

While my coworkers were lovely, many of them experienced similar issues and eventually left as well. Overall, it was a disappointing and stressful experience.

I've worked at a lot of places, and this is by far the oddest and maybe the worst. I was hired on the spot on my interview with the regional manager, which I shouldve known was a bit odd. On my first two training shifts, the manager was training me as if this were my first ever time interacting with customers. I now understand this is micromanaging. Everything I did, I could have done better in her eyes.

 I was never taught how to fill in my availabilty so I was rostered on days I was not available, and when I told the manager I could not come in days in advance, she would message me on the day asking if I was coming in and was late. Shifts were also cut or removed the day before or even the night before the shift, which is extremely unprofessional. After this fiasco, I was not given shifts anymore and have not heard from the manager nor regional manager dispite recieving monthly surveys to fill out from Shieke HR, making me assume I am still a staff member? I would not know because I was never put into a team group chat or anything. This makes me assume I was hired just to fill a space or something more shady, not sure.

A typical day at work would be full of energy and lots of smiles. it was an absolute pleasure working with sheike as nearly everyone who walked into the store were amazing wonderful customers plus the employees. i learned heaps about visual merchandising as that was my main role, and also styling. Co workers were a blast to work with and were all so amazing, always pushing me to the best that i can do. i honestly found nothing hard nor troubling working at sheike as i loved and enjoyed everything that i did. The most enjoyable part of my job was the styling, i was styling customers like crazy! they all loved my sense of style and walked out with the biggest smile on their face. my main goal was for a customer to be satisfied when walking out of the store and i achieved that 99% of the time.

Sheike is by far the best business I have worked for in terms of leadership and personal development. I feel as though each day I come to work, I evolve into a better version of myself.

Store teams are passionate and engaged with a strong collaborative focus. The National team (head office) are constantly seeking feedback on what could be improved across all levels of the business. 

There are so many amazing leaders in this business who I admire and learn from each day. 

Sheike has a fast paced and exciting atmosphere with beautiful store fit outs and stunning product to work with. I can honestly say I look forward to coming to work every Monday!

A typical day at Sheike involved organising new stock, making sure the store was always presentable for customers and greeting new faces, making sure their needs were always met. The hardest part of the job was not have a regional or store manager at the time, this meant most of the girls had to rely on each other for help without having someone above us to help with any problems. This was also good as it made my colleagues and I develop great independence in the workplace. The most rewarding part of the job was making someone smile when they find the perfect dress for an event and feel like a million dollars.

They have the most beautiful product with the worst culture of positively managing performance, all driven from the owner of the business and the poor choices he makes in employing senior management. 
You are told to illegally manage people from the business with no genuine reason, otherwise your own job is on the line. 
Beware of this one, a lot of empty promises and high turnover. 
All area managers are so distrusted, there is no access to reporting, and you are called to ask what route you took to another store if they think you took too long. 
No structure in training

Coming from across different business cultures, I've never experienced 
work place very every individual is respected in their authenticity, Sheike is first!!! 
 Very transparent environment where leadership management is accountable, supportive and understanding. Constantly challenging  to explore opportunities by providing helpful tools and  encouraging in self growth. Place to be!
