.I was on the shop floor by 8.30am everyday to replenish stock before Selfridges opened, then I had to put the float inside my till checkout the fitting rooms, ensure the department was tagged and tidy, I Learnt how to make additional sales to achieve targets, process refunds, problem solving, advising clients why a they shouldn't dry clean suits (steam pressing) stops suits shining, so more clients came to buy our suits. Cashing up tills, refunding, if management wasn't available, great staff canteen, Christmas parties, the hardest part of the job was when you saw a thief stealing items, contacting security, the most enjoyable part was the clothing allowance always looking smart formal and staff discounts.

Arrive early in morning, prepare the team brief and deliver brief. Work  along side staff driving store to store transfers, delivering stock takes and reacting to needs of the business. I have learnt that the best way to manage a team is to lead by example and to inspire and motivate them by close one to one coaching. I have a very out going and driven management team. Hardest part of job is managing multiple stock takes on the same day. Most enjoyable part of the job is building new relationships with different stakeholders and management across the business.

awful place to work. managers were horrible. they would slag off employees who was learning on the job, and force new staff members to work on the shop floor by themselves, with no help, training or guidance. then would moan at you for not doing the correct thing, but still not teach you how to do it. Valentino gave you one piece of uniform (shirt and trousers) and you were expected to wear it for all your shifts, so if you have 4 shifts back to back and were working til 10pm, you were still expected to get home from work, wash, dry and iron your uniform, ready to wake up at 6am the next day for your shift!

Recruited through an employment agency through my local job centre. The role was a Xmas role and temporary position in Selfridges' despatch department. I enjoyed the work and learning new skills. Meeting the shop floor staff with collecting orders through the store. The team I worked with were friendly and we all got very well. This role ended after two weeks unexpectedly and most of the colleagues I worked with have all finished their temporary.

As you can see, I have had extensive vacation work experience in office environments, the retail sector and service industries, giving me varied skills and the ability to work with many different types of people. I believe I could fit easily into your team.
I am a conscientious person who works hard and pays attention to detail. I'm flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. I also have lots of ideas and enthusiasm.

A Typical day at work would include taking inbound calls and helping customers with any queries/issues they had. I learned how to be more confident on the phone and improved my communication skills. 
The hardest part of the job was reaching targets and having to take as many calls as possible. I would say the most enjoyable part of the job was speaking to friendly customers who appreciated the help.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management of concession treat you lika a slave with minimum wages 







What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like working in a open prison. They don't look after you

Working as a customer service advisor, money isnt great but the hours are really good and the people are friendly, dress code is relaxed i hope my position goes permanent lots of overtime available to bump your money up
Training is good lots of practical exercises to do while learning a lot of information overload but its good.


Too many management layers who all look at everyone under them with jealousy.  They talk about development and your future but this doesn't come true unless you are up the managers ****. The only good thing are the other workers on the floor, all very nice and friendly.  There is NO work life balance only work work work.  Your are there to serve the rich.

Working at Selfridges is a great experience for me personally as it was my first job. Starting in a fast past enviroment of Christmas, was challenging as you are kind of thrown in the deep end but adapt quickly. Customers are patient as atmosphere is calm and relaxed.
