Save the Children Op Shop

As a non-for-profit organisation, we're all volunteers, so you know everyone you work with has a passion to help others, and we're all there to make a difference. A great way to get experience, and at the same time, work and give back to the community. 

On a typical day, you may be involved in a range of different retail work such as pricing, sorting, and cleaning. You'll have to work the till, and organise displays. Customer interaction and confidence is a must. 

A friendly environment with a small, tight knit team, who are responsible and able to assist customers and visitors to the best of their abilities.

I currently am volunteering at Save The Children. My role consists of sorting clothing, discarding clothing that is unclean or that damaged; price tagging clothing and placing them in the shop in the appropriate place.
 A typical day at work is working on a high very large bench with 4 others, while being able to talk and laugh and still working continually. This is the most enjoyable part. Going into the shop and being available for any questions from customers is also very fun.

It was an incredible place to experience my first ever job, even though it was volunteer work. The other staff members were incredibly friendly and really made sure I was able to handle the work I was given. I was never pushed too far beyond my limit and knowing that I was contributing to a larger cause made me feel special. The only difficulty I had with this job was with reaching up at the higher clothing racks. It's a great place to volunteer at.

Building customer service and pricing skills at the Op Shop for Save the Children helped me have the courage to deal with new people. Before this work, I had trouble talking with new people but this experience definitely helped me a lot helping customers out, answering their questions. I am now confident in myself with customer service.

A wonderful place to volunteer. Friendly people, wonderful environment, you can learn all aspects of retail / customer service/ store room / sorting of donations. They make everyone feel welcomed,  included, relaxed and accepted. A great place to be apart of the community

good working arrangement , friendly staff , the job is not hard just need common sense in doing things , the most enjoyable part is to see a look of satisfaction on the customers' face when they have bought items they needed & not at a very expensive price

This was a volunteer job and I enjoyed the few days a week I had to go in and help in the shop. I learned to operate the cash register and gained confidence helping people from all ethnicities.

i really enjoyed volunteering at Save the Children so much that i was only supposed to do 1 month and ended up doing 3 it was a supportive environment to work in and i enjoyed it greatly

It's a voluntary work , great atmosphere, friendly,
Nice staff to work with .You cannot ask for more all items we sell are donations from community.
