One of the worst companies I've ever worked for. My position was in a call centre for Stellar in Springfield. Training was horrible especially with COVID there was NO social distancing and they kept saying it was a controlled environment. Call and resource are the absolute worse and have no idea what they're doing. They put me as a no call no show every time I was sick or had an RDO and gave me coaching the next day when I CALLED IN. Team leader asked to check my personal phone for 'proof' that I called in. Rosters are in one day before the starting week, two if you're lucky. Pay is absolute TRASH and even if you pass all quality for your calls, your pay will go lower because its based on the centre's average. Every single person has no idea what they're doing. I was on a permanent flexible part time, but there was no flexibility. Nothing was ever done or approved on time. They never take people's mental health into consideration and are constantly hiring because of how many people quit and leave after the first day. Pay is NEVER correct. There's no room for growth. I hated every second of this job and tried so hard to stay for the money, but not even that was enough. I would rather go unemployed than stay at this job. Call and resource team is ridiculous with how many there are, how much time they have and the ZERO work they get done. My lunch even got stolen in the cafeteria one time. Can't even believe this company is legal. 

Commence at 13.15 to 22.00. Set up work station, inbound calls high volume, fast paced compliant with accuracy, quality meeting required Targets KPI's. Callers requests mostly travel plans for buses, trains and or ferries. Times depart an arrival. Typing and retrieving information whilst customer on phone. I learnt how to 'control calls' . If there were any escalated calls, team manager would assist and at times co-workers next to you would be able to offer any assistance to help with the call/caller. I found it hard to meet the Average Handling Time which was 110 seconds, I would average 140 seconds, however, my quality was 100% 11 out of 12 months. I was acknowledged by mystery shoppers of my compassion, understanding needs of caller and accurate/quality of information given. Most fun part if the job was having our team meetings once a month, this would give us time to share our calls, good or bad, it helped to let out any frustration or emotional feelings. As we discussed to each other, we would always end the meeting with smile, laughter and completely refreshed.

Managing a team of anywhere between 10 – 16 people, ensuring strong performance in both sales and time-based Key Performance Indicators through various forms of coaching and mentoring.
Constantly accountable for the success of a team, and consistently both setting and hitting goals for each member that enables us to work towards the combined goal of team success, and the even greater goal of centre success.
Higher level of responsibility and knowledge of products and processes to ensure total support for not only my team, but also to the centre as a wider entity.
Utilizes great creativity to engage all team members and get to know each on a personal level – to understand their successes and their challenges and nurture/mentor them to be as successful as possible.
Have had the chance to be involved in many module-based learning sessions around people/operational management, which has helped me grow and become a stronger team leader.
Chosen as an ambassador and representative of Stellar to attend the Great Game of Business conference in Brisbane (October 2012), celebrating and working closely with other businesses that work on the Open Book Management business model.

Typical American company.. Full of slick phrases aibout how well they look after their employees,  but do not deliver on that.
Low wages, poor training by young kids for a role that brings lots of responsibilities ( ATO call centre ), stressed micro managed or unsupported work atmosphere (yes varied depending on their staffing levels each day) with unrealistic KPIs.
High anxiety and tears amongst emoloyees, with subsequent high levrl of staff turnover.  
Suitable for those who do not have a lot of other work options. That's how Stellar gets away with what they do.
If i hadn't been so traumatused from my experience with their off hand or heavy handed inadequate training -(depends on who you got each time) would have reported them to a govt authority.
Apparently there have been some improvements since my time there as they were getting the same feedback from those leaving in droves.

Stellar is a great place to be in since it gives you a glance into an international market like Australia. You get to meet people from around the globe and learn about their culture.

The management is great. A delight to work with. They always have a lesson plan for everything and only due to this, even after being a call center ; the atmosphere is not stressful, in fact its exciting.

Especially at Stellar, the atmosphere is very positive and motivating.

I have learnt to be patient and I am much more confident now because now I believe I have the capability to do anything due to my will power.

I enjoy every aspect of the job since I feel I'm getting acclimatized into the environment every second.

It's not a very demanding job, hence I haven't come across anything which is very hard.


A typical day usually includes coming to work and taking call/emails. The project that I'm working on is National Broadband Network (NBN).

I was required to log in and out the system within a 30 second window of start finish time. Calls were inbound and dropped in one after the other with not more than a few seconds in between. Customer service officers needed to keep up to date with all product changes and be able to answer queries at any given time.
I learnt to multitask and interact in a friendly manner with customers at a fast pace, whilst maintaining a KPI's. Management, was through however not often available when staff needed them, so we had to be able to think on our feet and work independently. Co-workers made life easier as we were able to support each other with advice. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was making lifelong friends.

Managment doesn't care about the staff.
Hourly rate is horrible and there's barely any room for advancement unless you are buddies with the other people who are higher up.
No one cares about your mental health.
If you want to go part time there HAS TO be something wrong with you for them to grant it.
You'll almost never get treated with dignity or respect.
You'll be stressed majority of the time.
If you get moved into a new role they refuse to pay you correctly and don't give you contracts to sign.
You will get punished and humiliated for taking any time off even if you are really unwell.
They barely grant annual leave.
The company honestly does not care about their staff they only care about meeting numbers. Please unless you can handle it... do not apply for this job, put yourself first.

They pay us so poorly for the work we do. They pay everyone different wages depending when they started. They’ll use the let them eat cake approach (pizza days etc) to distract everyone from the real issue of being underpaid. Incentive isn’t great and the tax on it seems arbitrary, one month you’ll get taxed the next you won’t. They’ll belittle you for going to the toilet and if you go too many times they’ll get invasive and suggest you see a doctor. They’ll belittle you for being sick. They also don’t care about mental health, with people mocking others for taking time off due to it. There is no job advancement unless you’re BFF’s with upper management. The training is minimal. 


Working for Stellar was stressful to say the least. We were working on a contract from Translink so we were answering more than 100 calls a day. we had to meet goals and if we didn't we would have a talking to. We were answering calls from complaints, go card enquiries, journey planner and general enquiries. 
It was incredibly hard to get anywhere in this company, one of my colleagues (who has only just left the company) was trying to move up the business ladder and every which way she turned Stellar said no, Stellar did not help her in anyway in the 4 years she was there, Stellar provided no courses, no support.

I prepare myself mentally for the start of the day's challenge as every call is different. I never know what type of call is coming through and I have to be prepared for it. I always maintain a positive attitude & being patient & calm to get through the call as you need to manage the timeframe given to answer each call.

My workplace environment has diverse culture & background.

The hardest part of my job is dealing with difficult and aggressive callers and being calm despite of situation.

The most enjoyable part of my job is being commended by management on receiving positive feedback from customers.
