SNP Security

been working with this company for a long time now, and have seen many ups and downs,
one of the example of my typical day was when i saw someone dying in front of my eyes.
I had just started my job, and realized that there is a crowd on one platform and i made my way towards the incident spot.
when i arrived there, i saw one person lying down, who was coming back after watching a footy show with his family, and just a a heart attack on the way home.
There was ambs around that person and trying to assist with every possible help that they could, but sooner after the duty manager notified me that that person is no more.
being a girl i was just shattered for a moment, because i live far away from my family, but i controlled my self because i was on work.
I made an incident report of the incident. and i learnt from that incident that we should always keep in mind that the death can win over us at any time. we only need to keep in mind that we are honest to our family , friends, and co-workers. and never hurt them.

I just love the people i work with for there co-operation , and they are always very help full.

The hardest part of my job for me is sometimes there are incidents that just shake me from inside and i just can't get away from it being a security guard, but still i love the work i do. because every girl cannot work as a security guard.

The most enjoyable part of my job is sometimes there are some drunk people who act really funny and just make me laugh but they are very daring sometimes as well.

But i enjoy working with my job.and the people i work with.

I have been in the aviation screening section for 6 months.   The job was fine to begin with, I still get decent hours, the pay is good.   Saying this, however, it has slowly been changing in other areas that’s not for the better.   Hours are mostly rigged so you are just shy of two breaks, break management from team leaders vary where you can be on the floor for a 7 1/2 hour shift and have only one break where you get that break 2 1/2 hours in or five hours in.
Rostered locations mean nothing as you’re tossed around where they need you so you can only really rely on the hours on.
My most recent experience has left my anxious and stressed where I was meant to finish at a certain time after an 8 hour shift and my shift had been extended and decided for me but I was failed to be notified until right at the end of my shift at the time I was meant to finish.  I lost my temper and with a medical episode I was sent home then and there.  However, coming back the next few days, I was self-conscious about other team members watching me, supervisors and team leaders as well and hearing all sorts of talk regarding the event that day.   I am uncomfortable now working due to this.

I received some great administration and data entry experience amongst some other skills in my time with SNP, it's a decent company to work for however i feel the communication with management was poor, i would arrive at work at times and have people there for a week or two to train though no one had told me, and i still didn't have a full grasp of my position, the office was poorly maintained too and was difficult to contact people to solve certain issues such as incorrect pay, missing hours, blank/incorrect rosters, leave etc...

I didn't feel as though i was a respected employee as i was placed at a site different from what i was initially told, and barely spoken to from then on, something like "Enjoying it here?" at the very least would have been nice.

Nonetheless i did work with some friendly people that were very helpful, and did quite enjoy my time in my position.

As an SNP security guard contracted to Sydney Trains, a typical day would look like non-linear, routine patrolling of various areas at a site, providing security. While providing security, looking for damage to the clients property or vandalism, as well as unauthorised persons on the site. At times, assisting commuters with issues they were having or respectfully communicating the law or site policies to them. I was to follow the site operating procedures (SOP's) at all times while on duty. At the end of a shift, I was to report on what incidents had occurred during my shift. Supervisors were conscious of the well being of employees. The hardest part of my job was communicating with persons for whom English was a second language. However, after thoughtful consideration on how to communicate the information needed, language was no longer was a major barrier.

* Sometimes it can hectic, busy, and pressuring and sometimes it can be friendly. So basically it's about the Good, the bad and the ugly.
* follow procedure, rules and regulations. Act very quick when in a pressure situation.
*Management. Can't complain about them much. Even though they can be hard. They are liable and responsible on our actions.
*Co-workers are great. Few of them can work differently. Like the few can cut short cuts. Not exactly breaking the rules, but not doing it like the Standard Operating Procedures. WHich can at times create a little argument , disagreement etc.
* I can't say not much is hard. It's just have to be alert, vigilant etc.

I worked for SNP Security at the Sunshine Coast.. there have been a number of major Breaches at this Airport, one so serious if it was made Public could have got SNP ordered off site. Management were made aware, but the person that made them aware was told they would take legal action against her if she went public. 
A passanger ran through the exit , security staff called out the the Supervisor to stop the passenger, he failed to do this and the passenger presented his ticket and the airline staff along with the chronically late passenger managed to board the flight and the plane took off. That was  just one of many breaches. Bullying of staff goes all the way to the very top, the ER National Manager.

•	Develops emergency procedures, responds to incidents, and resolves problems or request assistance of local authorities
•	Worked as Building Security Officer/ Concierge in AMP group and Macquarie group.
•	Attend all responses to alarms, medical emergencies, fires and other similar matters, evacuating premises and contacting appropriate emergency services if required.
•	Being as an Assistant to Controller, worked as a Rover and Dock Master in different sites of Macquarie group and handling situations, issuing pass and using security equipment including two-way radios.
•	Worked involved guide corporate client, issue them a temporary pass.

A typical day commenced with banking of monies from previous day which could take up to 1-2 hours. Totalling eftpos and cash deposits into a spreadsheet. Reconciling cash for daily courier pick up into banking bags.  During this process was answering incoming calls, greeting customers and checking temperature of visitors following COVID 19 procedures.  Receiving and preparing mail for Australia Post pick up. Checking house keeping tasks like topping up coffee, tea and providing foam cups in all departments. Enjoying the day with great colleagues.

I joined SNP security in 2007 as an aviation screening officer and with in a short period of time was promoted as a CBT facilitator helping new staff familiarise will prohibited items in passenger baggage.
I was promoted to a trainers position soon after I completed all relevant training qualifications. It was a pleasure working for SNP Security.

Overall SNP is good for a kick off in this industry, for doing a screening job at airport, this is very low paid. For the management i could say that 8 out of 10 people from management, starting from low level management which is Team Leaders up to the Senior management, have no clue how to manage people, are very rude and have a very bad attitude. On top of that you can easy notice the favouritism that the team leaders and supervisors are doing. NOT RECOMMENDED
