Overall learning was good as if you are willing to gain some knowledge about South Australian wines and the food served which is a mix of Asian and Australian cuisine. You would get lot of hours to work during certain events like Christmas in July and December but overall you would get approximately 15 hours per week. The hardest part of the job was to lift heavy chairs and tables with limited staff and to run a busy fine dining restaurant with just one staff to take the orders, deliver the orders and to receive the guest.

Outside stakeholders. It is frustrating dealing with delays by suppliers.

Friendly and engaging workplace allows team members to be themselves with no pressure to perform.

A typical day is action packed but gives you a sense of satisfaction

One of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for. FOH staff lovely. Management use scare tactics and bullying to achieve their ends. Have seen multiple wrongful dismissals and unfair warnings and reprimands given. Culture is horrible due to poor management skills - FOH staff always much more relaxed and committed to job when management is not putting ridiculous amounts of pressure and bullying to get what they want.

The people, staff. The best group of people

Staff fantastic, but hotels need upgrades

Happy welcoming, and everyone very pleased to see you. Then you start working and everyone helps each other

I worked at Rydges Sth Bank for just over 5 years and found the experience excellent overall. It was however difficult to cross train between departments, i did eventually have the opportunity to move from the Housekeeping dept to front of house/including concierge, room service and basic night audit training. I found the change VERY rewarding. And would really enjoy a chance to work in that evvirnment again.

I love my co-workers here,We have fun while cleaning a bit of chat when its not that busy.I enjoyed my first year here even though I did not get any recognition about my good deeds especially when I hand over the envelope of money that I found in the room that I am cleaning, I gave it to my supervisor but I'm surprised that no one hear of it.After that I feel that she became mean to me, bully me so I decided to finish my two years then I resigned.

Always busy with conferences, Dinner, Weddings and festive functions.

To be super organised with time management.

Complex but very enjoyable and challenging management for multiple tasks. 

Great with in the team environment.

End of long day reset for huge conference, when the team is very tired after a very long day at work.

Seeing a large conference over a days come to an end with huge success and clients are happy.

It was normal to feel stressed out on a typical day, due to the fast pass we had to work time management we had to follow. The domino effect, one thing could go wrong and it would ruin your time and routine. However; it was really rewarding working as a team throughout the day helping each other when needed.

Working for this Hotel chain was alot of fun-  Hrs were great and the experience was amazing. Never worked for a Hotel Chain before and to get the role of a "Duty Manager" meant alot to me.

Considering the lack of hotel experience I had, I still was able to grab this role. My attitude and confidence Im sure landed me this role.

I loved dealing with all my guests and staff but the distance at that point in my life was too much.
