The Submarine Service has long been shrouded in mystery and still is.
Many would wish to serve on-board these steely hunters of the deep or indeed their sister ships- the Vanguard class whose operations are shrouded in secrecy but do not have the personal drive or will to put themselves inside a steel can for many months on end testing the strongest of people.
The Royal Navy as a whole can offer lifetime changes to those who would grasp an opportunity to enhance not only their life but their families with attractive salary's, family housing, structured career progression and full Divisional support when required.

The Royal Navy Submarine Service is a unique job, days at work vary from quite days to high pressure 18 hr days under water.
I have learnt how to operate in a challenging environment, self respect, to enjoy hard work, the ability and importance of working as a team and looking out for people.
Management opportunities are always available, i manage the new recruits when they join the Submarine, getting them settled in, i help with there initial training and Submarine qualifications, i have also helped organize ships events such as ships company BBQ and commissioning party, as a senior AB i also manage the other AB's in the absence of senior rates.
The hardest part is the time away from family, especially the children.

I think in any branch of the Armed Forces there is no typical day at work, however as a Royal Navy Submariner you will be expected to take on roles and responsibilities outwith your trade/profession. As such a typical day at work can be varied. Adaptability and a sense of professionalism and personal pride must be part of any Submariners make-up. The enjoyable parts are most definitely Foreign port visits.
I have had the extreme pleasure of visiting Bermuda and the US Virgin Islands (whilst getting paid to do it).
The hard part to this is being away from friends and family.

A positive work environment conducting an important role in the defence of the nation. The most enjoyable part of the job is a sense of achievement at what I do. The hardest part is the inability to plan life as the operation programme changes constantly. I have learned how to become an efficient and highly competent manager and electronics technician whilst operating in difficult conditions and under time and pressure constraints.

i have recently retired from the ambulance service after 14 years i was resbosible for the emergency and non emergecny of the transportation of patients to hospital - after diagnosis and treatment of patient i decided whether the patient required hospital treatement or to use outside agencies i worked with one other crew member and made that decision - i have also encountered aggressive and abusive patients however the good part of the job was being able to think on your feet and nobody looking over your shoulder

Great travel opportunities as I was lucky to go around the Far East and Baltic region as well as Norway but the severe lack of job satisfaction and constant shifts at sea slowly start to wear you down. My advice to anyone wanting to join is to fully research the career prospects and be prepared to spend a lot of time travelling to the south of England but overall I enjoyed it after 5 years

I spent three years serving in the Royal Navy as a Seaman Specialist , where I developed several skills including: communication with others, experience on board front line vessels and qualified as top of my class during phase two training.

Travel, adventure, excellent pay and leave. Once you have entered into the RN your horizon is limitless. Any course could lead you to anywhere. You are your own limit. There is no limit of opening doors
