Royal Mail

Everyday i start with my trip to work which is either a car journey or a bike ride, which is a thirty mile round trip. I start at 7am, then i have to prepare my walk ready for delivery, then deliver the mail which is about 8/10 miles depending on how much mail there is that day,
I then do a collection which is normally a couple of hours long emptying post boxes, collecting from post offices and business, then segregate it back at the office finishing at seven. Sometimes, typically on a monday evening i will help with a dispatch to the main office in Leeds which means i will sometimes not finish until 21.00.
Over my four years at Harrogate i have learnt every collection point there is (over 500) and every delivery route within my department, and then some... I have assisted my manager with various aspects of the job from, from identifying mail box failures to expanding the business to embrace a new form of delivery called WCM (world class mail)
I get on with my co-workers and hope that i inspire them to act in the same professional manner as myself, along with having a good day at work at the same time.
The hardest part of the job is giving it up to move to Australia, but i am sure it will be worth it.
The most enjoyable part of the job is several really, my co-workers, meeting new people, getting out and about, variation and job satisfaction.

I had a Variety of Jobs within Royal Mail i.e. machine operator, Postwoman, Collections driver, Staff Trainer, health and safety coordinator, First Aid and CPR trained also organising the supplies for the first aid room and it's 500 employees. I also took my Fork lift licence to help load and unload the trucks.
I was a workplace coach which involved employing new staff and training them on health and safety procedures, this was my favourite part as I loved meeting new people and helping them settle in to their new jobs. I learnt about new cultures and how different people are.

Fast paced, busy workforce preparing and delivering mail across a broad spectrum of terrain, in all weather
Delivery points varied from 300 to 800, and were to be completed within 5 hours maximum
Daily driving to and from the office to your given delivery area
Sole responsibility of your van, PPE and time management 

Management are knowledgeable, but they are also having their KPIs scrutinized all the time

busy work place with close supervision,not much talking more keep your hands moving.tight schedules.nights were better for me,workers tend to help each other,friendly atmosphere,miss working there,since i retired.

DURING MY WORK LIFE I WORK IN MANY DIFFERENT PLACES 
THE LAST ONE WAS .THE ROYAL MAIL AT LIVERPOOL DEPOT LOCATED IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND .
THE XPERIENCE WAS GREAD AND I LEARN NEW SKILLS .
THE MANAGEMENT AND COLEAGUES WERE VERY GOOD 
AND ALWAYS HELP ME TO DO MY JOB AT THE BEST OF MY POSIBILTIES

Loved working for Royal Mail,worked in west Norwood, couldn’t find a better group to work with,its fast paced,but very relaxed atmosphere,I’d recommend anyone to work for this company

A typical day was sorting mail of all kinds,working as part of a team or alone.
I found my job very enjoyable,im leaving on 25th febuary due to the mail centre closing.

Would go back if I ever move back to England. A typical day involved sorting letters. Then walking around 8 miles delivering them. Also along with any parcels.

sorting primary and secondairy sorting very nice staff and made some really good friends and earned a lot of money in a month
