My day at work always began with the unknown. My manager was on leave from the day I started so I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. That was the hardest thing about the job. I learned a lot about the culture - never voice an opinion that is different from a senior manager's and be prepared for the unexpected. There is a culture of people going behind a person's back without speaking to that person first if a problem arises and there are so many personal relationships between the staff members that you don't know who you can trust.  Be prepared for kangaroo courts and witch hunts - that's what HR does to get rid of people who challenge the status quo or if they determine that they just don't need a role there anymore. The CEO is either unaware or does nothing to address any of these issues. I don't think they have ever heard of "due process", and I would describe it as an unsupportive workplace. 

Work closely with the General Manager Assets & Service Platforms to facilitate the strategic delivery of asset management and other major infrastructure, including aircraft, real estate, ICT and vehicle fleet platforms. Develop, manage and maintain asset maintenance plans and registers to the value of 30+ million dollars. Manage risks, audits, and WH&S. Conduct stakeholder analysis, management to ensure efficiency with ongoing changes in all aspects of the mentioned role. Liaise with relevant local authorities for disaster response for Far North Queensland region, including outlying facilities and corporate assets. Trim down budget expenditure for fleet management by 25% by procuring vehicles appropriate to the task.

Poor management with training, staffing & OH&S issues. "encouraging" extended hours and ignoring driver fatigue issues. Poor management of policy and procedures and reluctant to assist staff.  Difficulty obtaining correct pay. Not being paid for "oncall" shifts.
Difficulty in liasing with staff .

Corporate Governance and Management are the worst I've worked with in a long career in health

A culture of fear and not speaking up for fear of reprisal. A high turnover of staff as a consequence

Depending upon the role, it could be a shift or flexible working arrangement.

They were very flexable in the first 10 years I was there then downhill for next 8.

Nothing very stressful but things needed to be done in a timely matter.

Management was good years ago then all fell apart.

Head down bottom up get in a get the job done.

Working for RFDS is good. There's always room to move about and try different things. Talk to People and keep your ears open. You get paid alright but if you play the game and do public holidays,night shifts, overtime etc then you can earn quite a bit, specially because now every one can salary sacrifice. On the job learning and generally interesting projects are always happening 

Poor pay and HR practices. Non compliance with some National Employment Standards.
Low pay & inappropriate award for Health Services Assistants.  No localities or daily living allowance for FIFO HSAs.

working in the outback has its challenges but that is what you are there for to problem solve and get on with the job.
my co-workers where fanastic and we all worked as a team.  running a gp clinic was very busy put we all did our very best to make sure that all clinics were happy and seen in a timely manner
