This company is big on lying! 16 days annual leave for a roster that does 12.5 hours a day and is effectively cramping 8/6 into 14 days......
But you don't find that out till you get on site because they hide this fact when you sign up. Most good honest people take it in good faith that 4 weeks is 20 days. Not in Roy Hills world....oh and you fly in the day before for your 2 week stint so you have 15 days less a year with your family. Flying home after night shift is at 1030am so another day is just about over for your break. There's is no bonus. There are zero benefits. Zero. Out of 12 tradesman that started with me, 6 have left in the space of 2.5 months! Moral is terrible.... Roy Hill has done well to get who they have but it's obvious the experienced and smart ones are leaving. I know how Gina Rinehart's kids feel. Promised a lot, delivered nothing

typical day was a 12 hour shift , up at 5am breakfast , crib ,warm up exercise , start at 6 .pre starts on machinery , any other paper work that needed completing take fives and so on , then off for a day in the field , return at 6pm shut down of machinery , back to my room shower , exercise (gym), then of to the crib room for dinner . was great to be part of a team of self like minded people , great atmosphere to work in , Management were easy approachable with anything or any questions you may have had , safety was of a high standard and everybody had that in mind to keep a safe work place and zero harm to our selves and others over all I do not think there was any real hard parts to the job , I enjoy working away so the fly in fly out suited me perfectly , some of the most enjoyable parts of the day were sitting around with work mates at the end of the day catching up on what we had done during the day or on our time off at home .

On a average day you would commence by being breathalysed followed by hand over them commencement of duties from roving patrols, gate house duties. Site inspections of plant machinery, vehicle checks
Lots of training in traffic control, from checking vehicle for defects and other safety issues. To breathalysing drivers and maintaining and enforcing traffic regulations. Piloting in large and heavy machinery .
Most of the Security Officers were experienced in mine site lifestyle
The shifts were  12 hour
Roy Hill mine site amenities were great from movie theatre, tennis courts pool,   pub.
The mine site is in a very remote area in the Pilbara and its environment is quite harsh, The average temperature range is from 35-46 on a average day.
Most enjoyable part of my job was the roving night patrols as you were required to perform welfare checks outside lying camps that were manned by small work crews

Don't let the good salary and bonus fool you into thinking it will make working in a horrible job okay - it isn't. Save yourself the time and heart ache - don't work here. The leader of business support is more interested in justifying their own role within the business than they are stamping out the toxic culture that exists (largely due to their inability to lead and address issues as they are raised as opposed to sweeping them under the rug).

While some departments in the business are well managed others are toxic - it's well known  and nothing is done about it, Turnover in the department I worked in was through the roof due to poor management - unrealistic expectations of staff and no signs of the toxic culture changing any time soon.

I found this site to be an enjoyable work environment. Workload were  shared well between crews, and productivity was a good level due to management good planning. Tools available to perform duties were off a good standard and well maintained. Quality clothing and footwear was provided also. Living quarters were suitable to needs. The distance to and from the catering mess from accommodation was a fair way, and sometimes seemed unreasonable distance when time poor. Facilities such as gym and tv room were great to have onsite, and clean and well maintained also. Plenty of choice available with catering, and very pleasant service by staff.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The work colleagues were great and willing to help out. Money is good. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The military to mining program is supported by the initial department that looks after it, from there no real support from with in the department. Don’t set you up for success coming into role.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hit and miss like any work place. A lot of hand balling

Building scaffold with extreme heights (hangers) physically demanding,warm weather.What I have learned is you never stop learning something new everyday.Making sure that we all work as a team.Because in the fifo industry we spend more time with co-workers than time at home.And a good crew is a crew that gets along.Hardest part of job is physically demanding.The most enjoyable part of the job building free standing an hanging platforms for the safety of other trades to complete there jobs.

A great place to work with a project team of experienced professionals making the day to day challanges of completing a 10 Billion Dollar a little easier. 
Hardest part of the job was working with different cultures, such as the Korean main contractor and Chinese sub contractors. My 14 years working in China helped overcome many of the issues presented.
Most enjoyable part of the job was assessing and evaluating proposed contractors fabrication facilities in different countries around the world.

Construction project. My first experience in construction work in a marine environment. Focused on meeting budget and schedules, requires strong commitment to the project success. As a result, working cooperatively with colleagues and contractors is essential. Project has faced many hurdles which has required the team to draw on each other's experience. Very satisfying to see the team meet the challenges head on and support each other.

I believe the hardest part of the job was knowing your worth and not being able to prove narcissistic tactics used against and bullying 

Most enjoyable work was having a small group of supportive decent human team mates who don’t judge on the chapter they walk in on work and home life
