Working at Roger David was very enjoyable and rewarding as I love styling men's fashion and I got to work with a variety of clientele, from young teenage boys going to their school formal to a range of bridal parties.There is nothing better than seeing the confidence of someone rise when the put on a new suit and look and feel fabulous. 

I learnt how do style men's suiting as well as sales strategies and techniques, which were used to meet KPIs and targets. 

The hardest part of my job was managing the staff when tasks were not completed to standard or other issues occurred. As a result I learnt how to have difficult conversations in a diplomatic way. 

A typical day at work involved writing action plans for my team, creating rosters, setting & achieving sales KPIs, serving customers, general cleaning, training new staff and ensuring the store was running smoothly.

A typical day involves ensuring the store looks immaculate so that customers are greeted with a clean and presentable environment which could foster them to purchase the clothing. Not only do I build a rapport with the customer but I ensure that I am engaged and understand what they are searching for. I then proceed to styling and informing the customer about our clothing range and ensuring they leave the store with the product they intended to buy and that they are truly satisfied. At the end of the day and throughout I maintain the store presentation and assist with clothing the store and follow end of day procedures as required by the company to ensure efficient and effective flow for my colleagues at the store.

A typical day at work was interacting with customers trying to break barriers and build friendships in order to make sales. I learned how to measure up suits and make alterations. I was taught key techniques on how to approach customers. Had a very fun and vibrant team who were more like friends then they were co-workers which I would catch up with outside of work hours. Hardest part of the job would be the hours where it was slow cause it made the day feel like it was going forever. Most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with fashion retail.

Great company culture - teams worked really well together, very diverse mix of employees who created a fun work environment for both teams and customers. Higher management who was actively involved - store visits and communications in person and over the phone. Firm but understamdin, with a sense of humour.

Reasonable pay rates for different ranked employees within the business, compared to industry standard.   

Shame the business closed down highely due to poor and conflicting decision making by the owners.

The training is very extensive and intense if you haven't worked in the clothing industry before, as you need to know certain details to be able to sell a certain way. The hardest part is remembering all the the new stock that comes in and where everything is, especially if you only have one small shift a week it's hard for you to memorise everything only for you to have to learn everything again on your next shift.

Great management however there is no way to advance. Company offers an inceptive once a target is reached but then doesn't deliver. Been with the company for a while and although I've proved myself, I have not received any kind of recognition from the bosses. Good company to work for if only temporary but if its long term don't waste your time, you can be appreciated and rewarded elsewhere.

If you're not a part of the sales team, this job is actually excellent. However, if you have to deal with the day-to-day questions about why every other customer didn't buy a pair of extra socks with their tee-shirt sales, that's when you will start to notice problems and flaws in their sales techniques. I have found this across the stores.

Roger David has great options for blokes in any occasion. My manager was awesome and really inspired the team to be motivated and excited everyday. Although it was a tough KPI driven company the culture was great and offered a great environment.

I love being able to provide people with the ability to look good, feel good and get value for their money. Roger David has taught me how to be an inspirational retailer portraying a fashion forward image.

Too much emphasis on sales with increased job insecurity and poor systems in place. Great work environment with great people to work with and a good culture.
