I was a skill hire (temporary employee) for 2.5 years, so was not in a substantive position. This had the benefit of being able to work in other departments who needed extra staff, when my main department was quiet. The disadvantage was not being in a substantive position meant no job security. Prior to a state election, all skill hires not in permanent positions were let go. This job taught me govt. systems, processes and culture, SAP accounts, data base management, updated my computer skills, and provided a mental challenge that was most welcome. The staff were helpful and friendly, and I learned so much from them. RTA then became RMS, and all departments were merged.

I love to look after people and help them in right direction and like to see smile on the face when the job is done .I have so much to give as customer service officer .I can deliver services in an efficient and timely manner. In my past experience i have treated people with respect , fairness and courtesy.I as a customer service officer i listen to and understand what the customer wants and give them an opportunity to express their opinion.At the same time provide clear and accurate information and advice that is up to date and complete.

Face to face with customers, dealing with problems arising from issues with people and computer matters.  Many benefits with my role in Customer service is knowing when customers have problems, then sorting them out.  The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing people walk away with a positive result.

Go to office in the morning and organise which job you will be working on

Go and pack vehicle according to job and location you are going to

Assist Surveyor with all survey work needed

Repack car when at shed organise what is needed for next day

Go back to offfice

project supervision of road construction,
leasing  with multiple contractors doing  road repair jobs.
leasing with various councils feature road developments and  modifications on existing ones.
Ensuring the attainment of a high level of OH&S

I enjoyed working there in the varied positions. It was very interesting being involved with some on the projects. Would have loved to have stayed there.

I worked for the rta for 36 years in all different roles from labourer truck driver team leader to work coordinator fantastic place to work great people plenty of opportunities long the way

Was a great place to work, had a great culture for learning, and teaching apprentices. The jobs were always varied and could be challenging. Great workers and management.

It was a good to place to work with direction and purpose. This Authority has been superseded by a less than satisfactory culture which has driven some good people away...
